Notes for Mary M (NOMAIDENNAME) Wallis

Mary's maiden name is not known. She was previously married to
someone named Wallace, indicated by the presence of Carson Wallace,
age 17, in their household in 1880, reported as a stepson of John W
Miller.

Notes for Ina ADAMS

Ina's age is 18 on her marriage license in September 1896. No
children are recorded from this marriage. It is not known exactly
when Ina died. There is a possibility they were divorced, but there
is no record.

You can see the license at the following address:

Notes for Ina Mabel ADAMS

We first find Ina Mabel Adams in 1880 in the household of her
grandparents, Silas Paul and Louisa D Rownd, in Ethel, Arkansas.
Her mother Viola Rownd died about 2 weeks after childbirth, likely
from complication of childbirth. Viola's husband Augustus Adams
moved to Montana after her death.

Hse #124, Fam #129

L D Round W F 46 Wife House Keeper Indiana New York Maryland
W S Round W F 22 Son Rafting Illinois Indiana Indiana
Ina Mabel Adams W F 7 Granddaughter Kansas Arkansas Illinois

In 1930 she is in Bell County, Texas, with her husband John W Rose,
and three children. The boy's name is uncertain, scrawled by the
enumerator. It is transcribed by Ancestry.com as Gurath. But that
seemed questionable to me. It appeared to end in -tle. I
transcribed the census entry as Gurstle.

I later discovered a genealogy in the One World Tree of Ancestry.com
that lists the name as Gerstle. A descendant, Robbi Cline, tells
me:
"I remember Uncle Gerstle. My g-mom Zona is not on the below census
as she was a grown woman with two kids of her own, Reverda and
James."

1930 Federal Census, Bell County, Texas, 5 April, District 25, page

Rose, Ina M Wife F W 56 KS AR IL
Rose, Gurstle P Son M W 21 TX AR KS
Rose, Bertha Dau F W 17 TX AR KS
Rose, Sylvia Dau F W 15 TX AR KS

The One World Tree genealogy identifies Ina and John as married in
Ethel, Arkansas, and gives Ina's place of birth as Temple, in Bell
County, Texas. This corroborates the listing in the 1930 census in
Bell County.

That genealogy shows Ina's husband as John Wilheim Rose. He is
listed as John W Rose in the 1930 census. I wonder if this spelling
is a mis-reading of the name Wilhelm.

Robbi Cline wrote me in February 2008 with more information on the
family:
"I’m a direct descendant of Ina Mable Adams Rose. I have a few
pictures of Ina and John as well as one picture of John’s parents
Zachariah and Mary.
"My Dad is Reverda Lee Townzen 03/29/1919 still living
"His Mom was Zona Enola Rose-Townzen 01/20/1896
"Grandmother's Mom was Ina Mable Adams-Rose 04/22/1873"

In another email Robbi said, "John Emmitt and Zona (John and Ina
Rose's daughter) are my grandparents. Zacharia and Mary Rose are
John's parents. Reverda is my dad and James is his brother.
Marcus "Dick" and Minnie Rozelle are John Emmitt's parents."

From 6 genealogy trees in One World Tree of Ancestry.com, we get a
full list of the children of Wilheim and Ina Mable, and details on
some.

Notes for Andrew ADLEY

Notes for Lee Roy ADLEY

I find Lee Adley listed as Lee in the public records I have found.
But his son is named as Otdies Lee Adley Jr in his birth
certificate.

There was some confusion about Lee Roy's name because several
sources referred to his son as Otdies Lee Junior. In April 2008, I
got an email form a descendant, Patricia Ferguson Williams, who
clarified the matter of the names:
"His name was Otdies Lee Adley, and his father's name was Lee Roy
Adley. The 'Junior' part came in when his mother said 'Well, the
first son is always called Junior.' But they did not have the same
name. The son was called 'Lee,' and the father was called 'Lee
Roy'."

I got Ruby Henson's name from the Texas Birth Index record for
Otdies Lee Jr's brother Edward John Adley.

In the 1920 census, I found Lee Roy listed as Lee with his parents
Andrew and Rosie in Brown County, Texas.

Precinct 4, District 11, page 12A, Hse #239, Fam #245

In the 1930 census, Lee is working on the farm of Boyd Turner in
Milam County, Texas. He is listed as a boarder, but his occupation
is reported as Farm Laborer. I assume he is working on the farm
where he is staying, but that is not specifically indicated.

Notes for Otdies Lee ADLEY

Thanks to Patricia Williams, who contacted me with information on the
death of Otdies Lee Adley:
"Otdies Lee Adley died in Fort Collins, Colorado about Jan. 23-24,
2003. Obit appeared in newspaper on Jan. 25, 2003, and graveside
services were held on that day."

With this clue, I went searching for online records and found the
Social Security Death Index for Otdies Lee, which gave the exact day
of death:
Otdies L. Adley, Born 4 Nov 1934, Died 22 Jan 2003, SSN: 463-52-0947
issued Texas (1951), Last Residence: 80526 Fort Collins, Larimer,
Colorado

Interestingly, I found public records compilations that indicated
Otdies' birthday was in July:
Otdies L Adley, Birth Date: Jul 1934; Street address: 3721 Soderburg
Dr, Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, 80526; Phone Number:
970-225-9356

Also at this address I find records for him under the name of Lee R
Adley, but with the same age, and associated with Shirley Adley (no
info on the divorce in this collection).

Some public records listings have him under the name of Lee, and
with the correct birth month:
Lee Adley, Birth Date: Nov 1934; Street address: 2300 W County Road
38 E, Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, 80526; Phone Number:
970-225-9356

The Texas Birth Index, which I found next, confirms the date of
birth as 4 November 1934. But note how they entered his name:
Otis Lee Jr. Adley Date of Birth: 4 Nov 1934, Milam County, Texas,
Gender: Male, Father's Name: Lee Adley Mother's Name: Ruby Henson

This is also the first source that tells us what county he was born
in. The designation of Jr would tell us that his father, named Lee
here, is also Otis (Otdies) Lee Adley. However, I found out this is
not the case, when Patricia Williams again gave me some insider
information on the matter:
"His name was Otdies Lee Adley, and his father's name was Lee Roy
Adley. The 'Junior' part came in when his mother said 'Well, the
first son is always called Junior.' But they did not have the same
name. The son was called 'Lee', and the father was called 'Lee
Roy.'"

Patricia goes on to tell us: "Lee Roy was the son of Andrew Adley,
and Andrew was the son of John Henry Adley."

His father is also enumerated as Lee in the censuses of 1920 and
1930 with his parents.

I have not foudn marriage information, but , oddly enough, I found
the record of Otdies Lee's divorce from Shirley Ann Childers in
1972, which also gives us the marriage date:
