Notes for Myrtle Mae AULT

In the 1900 census, the wife of James Israel is reported as Lulu E. His wife
in most genealogies is named Myrtle M. There is a memorial on Find a Grave
for Myrtle M Israel. One genealogy has the name of James' wife as Lulu Myrtle
Capps.

The name Lulu matches the 1900 census in which she is Lulu E Isreal [sic].
Another genealogy clarifies the situation buy reporting full names and dates
for two marriage of James. His first wife was Lulu Capps, the second Myrtle
Mae Ault. The latter name matches the grave in Woodlawn Cemetery. The
Ridgeway -Israel genealogy, found only in July 2015, calrified the confusion.

Notes for Lydia Obedience AUTRY

We find Lydia reported in the census of 1850 and 1860.

1850 Federal Census, Franklin County, Alabama, 17 December, District 6, page

G W Autry 40 M Farmer born in Georgia
Lucretia Autry 33 F b Tennessee

We know from family sources that the full name of her father was George
Washington Autry. Her mother was Lucretia N, but we do not know Lucretia's
maiden name.

1860 Federal Census, Franklin County, Alabama, 13-14 September, Eastern

Wm F Mullinax 26 M Farmer SC
Liddo [Liddy] O Mullinax 18 [wife of William] [b abt 1842]

There is a discrepancy in the birth date of Lydia based on these ages. In
1850 her age is reported as 9, and in 1860 she is 18. Both censuses are in
September, so the way her age was reported or calculated was different. We
get the exact birth date and other information from family sources.

In July 2008, Dennis Comer, provided dates and places of Lydia's vital
statistics where they were missing.

Sarah Mullennix, in email correspondence in 2007, had provided the year of
birth. Dennis Comer, a descendant of Lydia, in an email to Orville Boyd
Jenkins, July 2008. provides exact dates on birth and death, and place of
death:
Birth 18 December 1841 in Mississippi
Death 2 March 1913 in Dickens [Dickens County], Texas
Buried Dickens Cemetery, Dickens County, Texas
Her parents were ?.

In 1890, we find Lydia recorded as Lydie O Mullennix. She appears in the
Veteran's Schedule of the 1890 census, where she is recorded as a widow of
veteran William Franklin Mullennix. The main census for most states and
counties was destroyed by a fire, but the Veteran's Schedule is informative in
some locations. This schedule does not tell us if Lydie had family members
living with her, but we do learn where she was living. She is in Sidney, a
town in Comanche County, Texas, where we know from family sources her husband
William Franklin died in November 1888.

Note that the birth states of Lydie's parents are now given. This census
tells us that Sarah Mullennix Shields, at age 44 here, was born in about 1866.
Lydia died in 1913. We find that some time between the 1910 and 1920 census,
her daughter Sarah and her husband John Shields moved their family to Tacoma,
Washington, where they appear in the 1920 census. They are living in Ward 6
of the city of Tacoma, in Pierce County, Washington. That census gives us
some middle initials of the children reported in 1910, as well as listing
Sarah as Sarah M Shields.

In the 1890 census, Lydie was listed as the widow of W Mullenix

Some sources may have an error in the county of birth. Tye, Texas, is in
Taylor county, in the west. Abilene is the county seat. Family Tree Maker 16
internal map info has Tye in San Saba County, and will suggest changing the
location to Tye, San Saba, Texas. San Saba is in the south central area of
Texas. San Saba is the county seat, named for the San Saba River in the area.

The Texas Death Index reports that Eula died in Denton County (north of Ft

Notes for Daniel BAILEY

I found Daniel enumerated in the 1790 census, in Laurens County, South
Carolina, next door to his father's household.

I found census two entries for a David Bailey that seems to be this David
William Bailey. in 1790 he is head of a household of 1 free white male over
16 and one under, and 2 females (ages not reported in this first US census.
Next door is a Daniel Bailey and household. I expect this is David and
Frances' son. On the same page are also households of an Isaac Bailey,
Zachariah Bailey and "Widow" Bailey."

Notes for David William BAILEY

One source says that the father of Amos Strange's wife was a German immigrant.
There is some mistake with the surname Bailey, which is a Norman French name
from the noun "baillis" for an official, administrator or court official. The
English word "bailiff" is a form of the same word. The name is associated
with a lineage in Ireland, and other sources I later found reported that
Frances and her family were Irish. But as of the end of April 2010, I have
not been able to definitely identify the father of David Bailey. Some
genealogies say his father's name was William Bailey.

This Irish origin was confirmed to me by another researcher, a descendant of
Frances and Amos, Elisa Strange-Von Rice:
"I have the Baileys are Irish Immigrants, in fact a paragraph in the Amos
Strange info said, he left a large estate and the church of his forefathers to
marry the Irish Lass, Frances Bailey."

1790 Federal Census, Laurens District, South Carolina, page 432

Daniel Bailey 1 male over 16, 1 female

Zachariah Bailey 1 male under 16, 4 males over 16, 4 females, 1 slave

Widow Bailey 1 male under 16, 1 male over 16, 4 females

Two doors down from David Bailey is Amous Strainge, who matches Amos Strange,
husband of David's daughter Frances Bailey. Finding these two entries
together seems to indicate this is the family in our lineage. Next door,
between David and Amos is John Bailey, who seems to be David's son and
Frances' brother.
