In the 1920 census, where she is married to Bill L (William or Will) Hudson, her first name is spelled Lara. Her name is reported by Veda Hudson Nail as Laura Buford on Charlie Robert Hudson's death certificate. This is somewhat suspicious since William's first wife was named Beauford, of which Buford appears to be one spelling. Some genealogies have Laura (Lara) as the only wife, and attach the marriage record of W L and Minnie L Beauford. But they wre married in 1894, when Laura would have been only about 14. And William is a widower in the 1910 census, while his wife in 1920 is Lara. The enumeration of Bill L Hudson and his family indicates that his wife Lara is his second wife, judging by the age of the children in the house, the large discrepancy of her age (38) and his (61) and the age of Bill's oldest son, 24-year-old Robert, living next door in the household of Robert's wife's father Francis Marion Barnett. 1920 Federal Census, Stonewall County, Texas, 7 March, Commissioner's Precinct 4, District 229, Page 2A, Hse/Fam #27 Hudson, Bill L Head Rents M W 61 Married TX TN TN Farmer Hudson, Lara M Wife F W 38 Married TX TX TX No Occupation Hudson, Bill E Son M W 13 TX TX TX Hudson, Olif A Son M W 3 TX TX TX Hudson, Geniva A Dau F W 16 TX TX TX Hudson, Sadie M Dau F W 9 TX TX TX It seems to me in light of later documentation that Laura's (Lara's) name was not Beauford, or perhaps Bill had two wives with the maiden name Beauford. He married Minnie L Beauford in 1894, but he is a widower in the 1910 census. In 1920 his wife is the much younger Lara M. If her name was indeed Beauford, this is not the mother of the older son, Charlie Robert. However, in Charlie Robert Hudson's death certificate, he reports his mother's name as Laura Buford. The latter appears to be a variatoon of Beauford, which we know was the maiden name of Bill Hudson's first wife, known as Minnie L Beauford. It might be thought that the initial L in Minnie's name was for Laura and the initial M in Laura's name was for Minnie, and they were the same person. But Laura's age in 1920 was reported as only 38, or born in 1882. And further, Bill was reported as widowed in 1910. These latter factors have not been otherwise accounted for. No genealogy reporting only one wife has any comment at all to reconcile these discrepancies.
In the 1900 census Henry was enumerated twice In the following record, Henry is reported in the household of his maternal grandparents, in Parker County, Texas. 1900 Federal Census, Parker County, Texas, 5 June, Precinct 3, District 64, page 2B, Hse/Fam #38 Henry Tate 50 W M May 1826 74 Married 9 yrs GA GA SC Farmer Martha L Tate Wife W M [sic, should be F] Sept 1840 50 Married 9 yrs 0 children AL VA NC Bullard, Henry grandson W M Sept 1892 7 TX TX TX Henry is here reported as born in September 1892, as in his second enumeration in the home of his mother and stepfather below. But his father Nathan Bullard died in 1890. If Henry was born in 1892, he was born out of wedlock. This same address, reported by the 1900 census in two records, is also the birth date reported in Henry's death certificate. However, in his WWI registration below, we see that Henry himself reported his birth year as 1893. Henry is reported again a few days later in his own parents' household, with similar vital statistics. The birth state of his parents are Texas, whereas in the second record both are reported as born in Illinois. 1900 Federal Census, Erath County, Texas, 20 June, Justice Precinct 1, District 64, page 19B, Hse/Fam #331 Glanton, Frank W Head W M Mar 1841 49 Married 5 years GA SC SC Farmer Can read or write Owns Farm Glanton, Martha A Wife W F Oct 1862 37 Married 5 years 8 children/7 living TX IL IL Can read and or write Glanton, Robert F Son W M Mar 1896 4 TX GA TX Glanton, Emma L Daughter W F Sept 1897 2 TX GA TX Glanton, Charles W Son W M Sept 1899 8mos TX GA TX Bullard, William Step-son W M May 1884 16 TX IL IL Bullard, Henry Step-son W M Sept 1892 7 TX IL IL Marriage License Henry Bullard and Cora Jones Issued 26 April 1912 Erath County, Texas Ceremony 27 April 1912 Erath County, Texas by R H Howard, Minister of the Gospel Registered 6 May 1912 Erath County, Texas World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Henry Bullard Residence Thurber, Erath County, Texas Birth 7 Sep 1893 Stephenville (Erath Co), Texas Occupation Brick Maker Employed by Thurber Brick Co Married with 3 children Medium Height and build, Blue Eyes, Brown Hair Registered 5 June 1917 Erath Co TX Signed Henry Bullard The date of 7 September 1892 is reported on his death certificate and gravestone. His death certificate reports he is the son of Bud Bullard, which genealogies reported as a nickname for Nathan Bullard, first husband of Martha Ann Tate. The date of death on Nathan "Bud" Bullard's gravestone is 31 July 1890. There is an error somewhere in family records. Another anomaly is that his WWI Registration states that he was born in Stephenville, Erath County, Texas, while his death certificate says he was born in Parker County, with no city mentioned. The informant for the information on his death certificate is Mitch Bullard, Henry's son. I assume Henry himself provided the information on his WWI registration card. Thus I am following Henry's report of birth in Stephenville, Texas. Henry is reported as the Grandson of J H, age 7, and the birth date is Sept 1892. This seems to be a child of Nathan Bullard and Martha Ann Tate, but the age and reported birth date place his birth about 2 years after the date of death on Nathan's gravestone. Nathan's age reported in the censuses above puts his birth earlier than the date given by the genealogy, by at least one year. His parents may have rounded up to that year's birthday, but that would still have been a year short. The date in the genealogy, however, is the date on Nathan's gravestone. The date of death on the gravestone, 3 Jul 1890, is in conflict with the date of birth for his son Henry, who is reported born in 1892. Texas Marriages, 1851-1900 Nathan Bullard Spouse M. A. William Bryant Green appears on the list of children of Daniel and Mary Green in some old family genealogies. But his marriage record has his name as Willem B Green Jr. The names of his parents are not on the record. In July 2015, a great great grandson of Daniel (or Daniel John) and Mary Green wrote to give us some information and the name William was not in the list of their children from his family information. But he also had three names that were not in the old lists we had, either. This source indicated the name of Meshack (spelled Mashack) as Daniel Green's father was reportedly found in an old Green family Bible. It seems the children of Daniel and Mary also came from the Bible, but it was not directly stated. This ource also reported on various children, ionclduing Fannie, whose husband was WIlliam Bryant. Further investigatoin and good documentation now available from records on Fannie and William suggests that this is the source of the cohnfusion of a son of Daniel named William Bryant, compounded by the confusion with the William B Green Jr, whose middle name has not bneen confirmed. William was likely listed as one of the recipients of $77 form Daniel Green's estante in his role as husband of Daniel's daughter Frances (Fannie). Thus an early source thought the name William Bryant meant William Bryant Green, as another son of Daniel and Mary Green. Note again that on William's marriage record his name is given as William B Green, Jr, indicating his father was also William B Green. This and other clues and sources lead us to conclude that the identification of William Bryant Green as a son of Daniel and Mary was wrong. His father has not been identified in other records and sources. But all evidence requires we rewemove him from any list of children of Daniel John Green. His age, though also overwritten, appears to be 16. These entries may also represent three children of William and a deceased spouse. I have found no earlier marriage for William, to account for the mother of John D Green reported in the 1860 census.
