Notes for Melvina CALDWELL

In 1850 Melvina and her husband James P Mullins are living next door to
Melvina's brother Sherrod Caldwell, age 32, and his wife Rachel and family.
On the other side of Sherrod and Rachel is Melvina's widowed mother Elizabeth
Caldwell, age 52, and several children still in the home.

According to Mike Taylor, who has done extensive research and reconstruction
of the Mullins lineage, Melvina is a sister of Elizabeth Y Caldwell, who
married Green D Mullins.

Notes for Chas Washington CALLAHAN

Genealogies have Charles' middle name vriously as Washington, Watkins and
Watson. Records generally have only the initial W. But his death
certificate, available on FamilySearch, has Washington. There is no doubt of
this being the correct Charles Callahan. His wife's name is reported as Sarah
Ann McSwain, his residence as Rural Route 4, Shelby, Cleveland County, North
Carolina.

to be the correct report. In 1926, Stanley and Vera were in the Tacoma,

Jesse Camacho, under age 21
Father of Jesse gave consent for the marriage
Marriage 12 Feb 1955 Jackson County, Kansas City, Missouri, USA
Ceremony by Harry E Whitney, Magistrate, 5th District
The following additional information is not on this certificate, but is
reported in the transcription index record.
Birth Date 24 Dec 1935
Father Philip Camacho
Spouse Eva Porras

Jesse and Eva were listed in several Kansas City, Kansas, city directories.
For several they were the only Camachos listed.

U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995
Kansas City, Kansas, City Directory, 1955, p 115
Camacho Jesse (Eva) r 2301 Silver av

In 1957, they were again listed in the directories for both Kansas City,
Kansas, Eva's Porras family lived.

U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995
Kansas City, Kansas, City Directory, 1957, p 114
Camacho Jesse (Eva) lab Armours r 2301 Silver av

Then in 1958, only Eva was listed in Kansas City, Kansas. Jesse was not
listed in that one, and no entry has been found for them in the Kansas City,
Missoiuri, directory that year. In 1958 Eva was reported as a student.

U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995
Kansas City, Missouri, City Directory, 1958, p 114
Camacho Eva r 2301 Silver av

But both Jesse and Eva were reproted in the Kansas State Census for 1958, as
well as their 1-year-old son, Jesse Camacho Jr.

1958 Kansas Census, Kansas City, 1 March
16 Eva Camacho 2301 Silver Age 19
17 Jesse Camacho Jr 2301 Silver Age 1
22 Jesse Camacho 2301 Silver Age 22
(They are in the same household with several members of the Porras family,
Eva's family)

In 1959, however, not only do we find Jesse listed again, but several of the
Camacho households show up. And interestingly, Eva Camacho is no longer
listed. There are two Jesse Camachos listed. One with no wife, and no
employment listed. A listing appears for Jesse G Camacho with a wife named
named Angie, an employee of Armours, where Jesse in was reported working in
the 1957 directory.

Burial listings for Camachos, however, informs us that Jesse G Camacho was
born in 1910, while Phillip and Feliciana's sone was born in 1935. The older
Jesse, marreid to Angie, is probably Phillip's younger brother.

Raymond in the directory above is not recognized in previous records for this
family, but no other Camacho family is known, either. Since ages are not
given in these directories, this is likely a grandchild of Phillip and
Feliciana, who show up in the Kansas city directory for the first time in
1959. Similarly, Mrs Mary Camacho in the 1960 directory is unindentified.

In later years, Jesse appears in phone directory listings that include only

"My Dad was Phillip Camacho Jr 25 May 1926 - 4 November 2007. His parents
were Phillipe [Felipe] (Mexico, 1902 - 1962) and Feliciano (Trevino) Camacho
(b Thurber, TX, 1903 - Nov 6,1995). My Dad was married to "MiMi" (real name
Socorro Monsivais (27 June 26 in Monterrey, Mexico - July 13, 2007) on 23 June
1962. My Mom [name ?] just died of Alzheimer's at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa
[Johnson County, Kansas]. My Dad also just died there. I was searching for
relatives. I think Rudy Camacho was born 13 July 1943, died in Chicago, IL 12
December 2006. My siblings (Dad's kids from Guadalupe Conchola are Phil,
Rita, Jerry and Mary)."

Phillip's Social Security record reports the same dates found later on the
notes by his daughter above, but has no location information.

A burial marker in Mt St Marys Cemetery, where several other Camachos are
buried in Kansas City, reports Phillip as the husband of Rafaela Martesa, but
has no dates. A Camacho genealogy reports Phillip Camacho Jr's wife as
Guadalupe Conchola.

Guadalupe (Lupe) Conchola would be the Lupe C reported as Phillip's wife in
the 1959 and 1960 city directories. Yet according to Camacho family
genealogies, she married Lupe married Ruben Anaya in 1961. Genealogies have
no marriage date for Phillip and Lupe Conchola, and no record has been found.

If Phillip married Socorro Monsivais in 1962 as his daughter reports above,
and Lupe married Ruben in 1961, they would have divorced about 1960, or
shortly after the city directory came out. A divorce was very unusual for a
Catholic family in that era.

To have four children during that time, they had to be married about 5 years.
Since they were together in the 1960 directory (or at least when it was being
compiled for publication), they must have married about 1955.

Felicia Freisner seems to be indicating that her mother is Socorro Monsivais.
But this conflicts with the burial record name for Phillip's wife. His son
Phillip Camacho (born about 1949), in his Camacho genealogy, reports our
Phillip's second wife as Rafaela Martesa.

He reports dates of birth and death matching the years on the grave, and those
reported by Felicia Feisner for Socorro Monsivais. But the months differ.
The birth and death years are the same as for the two except the months
differ. The dual burial marker for Rafaela Martesa and Phillip Camacho has no
dates for Phillip.

Felicia tells us that both her mother (Rafaela? Socorro?) died in Lenexa
(Kansas) in July 2007 and her father (Phillip) died in the same place in
November 2007. These dates match other records for them. This is on the
Kansas side of the River from Kansas City, Missouri, where other members of
the Camacho family are buried.

Rafaela is buried there, and Phillip's name is on the joint headstone, but no
dates are on his side, only his name. Lacking other information, however, I
think it is safe to conclude that Phillip is also buried there, but for some
reason the dates were never engraved.

Phillip's Social Security record reports that his last residence was in Kansas
City, Missiouri, but his daughter reports (see above) that he and his wife
both died in a nursing home in Lenexa, Kansas, where they had lived for some
time.

"Yes mom's maiden name was Benavides. Her mom was Feliciana. She must of
married because I knew her name as Feliciana Camacho. Yes, my grandfather on
mom's side was Manuel Benavides. I'm requesting my original birth certificate
from Seattle, but because I was adopted it might take awhile. My adoptive
mother was also a relative 'Angela Benavides' my mother's sister."

In 1959 Phillip and Feliciana show up for the first time in a Kansas City city
directory. Jesse Camacho, their son, was listed in 1955 and 1957 with his
wife Eva Porras. On their marriage license in 1955, Phillip is mentioned
because he had to give permission, since Jesse was under 21 years old. But
only Eva was listed in 1958, and then for the first time in this 1959
directory several Camacho households were listed.

Eva Camacho does not appear, but there are two entries for Jesse Camacho, one
simply Jesse, with no wife, and Jesse G Camacho, wihose wife is named Angie.
Burial listings for Camachos informs us that Jesse G Camacho was born in 1910,
while Phillip and Feliciana's sone was born in 1935. The odler Jesse is
probably Phillip's brother. The one with no wife, then , is liekly to be
their son.
