Notes for Emmie Lu CARSON

1910 Federal Census, Hamilton County, Tennessee, 22 April, Chattanooga,

children/1 living TN TN TN [b abt 1883]
Wilson, Louis Stepson M W 5 TN TN TN [b abt 1905]

The census reported that this was the 2nd marriage for both Seaborn (Seabert)
and Emmie. Emmie was only 27 & had her 5-yr-old son with her. But we have
documentation of 2 previous marriages for Seaborn. The enumerator probably
just got that they had both been married before and put it as the 2nd.

The following death certificate appears to be for Emmiie Wilson Mullins. This
reports her maiden name as Carson. She married Seaborn Mullins when he was
already 70 yeras old, and they had no children. When he died she probably
reverted to her first married name. This death record is only the text index
record, so this record is somewhat limited.

Notes for James Wilson CARSON

Harriet died not long before the 1850 census, soon after the birth of her
fourth child, James Wilson Carson on February 1850. The 1850 census reports R

7. The youngest is James at 3 months. However, the census date is 2
November, and his grave tells us James died on 9 July. He is included in the
enumeration, even though has already died, because the actual census date in
1850 was 1 June.

Notes for Mahalah CARTER

Mahala is referred to in records by various forms of nickname, commonly Hiley
or Hillie, and in her husband's probate records she was referred to as Hila
Green.

In 1850, Isaac and his wife Mahala Carter Green have been married less than
one year, and are enumerated in a set of Greene households in Platte County,
Missouri.

1850 Federal Census, Platte County, Missouri, 5 October, Lee Township, Hse/Fam

On one side, listed before Isaac and Mahala, is her mother Barsheba
(Linebaugh) Carter, in the home of an Ann Green, widowed head of the
household. The widow Ann Greene appears to be Isaac and Elisha's mother. A
sister Barsheba Carter is in the household of Ann Greene with three children.
One is only 2 years old. It may be that the two older Carter children are the
children of her late husband with his first wife.

The head of the household listed after Isaac appears to be a brother, Elisha
Green, about 6 years older.
