In 1942, when he registered for the WWII draft, Billy Joe reported his birth
place as Oklahoma City. His memorial on Find a Grave reports the birth place
as Carter, an unincorporated community, in Garvin County. The latter sounds
more likely, knowing where his relatives were. It is likley that he gave this
city since he either did not know or could not rememebr the actual community
name, or being in California, that was a recognizable city.

1-year-old Nelson does not appaer in the 1930 census, so it appears he died
before 1930. A third child appears in the 1930 census, under the name of
Kenneth A Taylor.

In the 1940 census, his wife Zell is married to Quenton Wood and there are
6-year-old twins in the home that seem to be Zell's children. It looks like
Daniel died about 1933 and Zell married Quenton soon after. Her 23-year-old
son Willard Taylor is also in the Wood household. 23-year-old Wilard in 1940
matches the 13-year-old Gerand in 1930, and Willard G in 1920. If the
reported names Willard G and Gerand H are both correct, then Willard had four
names: Willard Gerand H Taylor. I have not discovered what the H stands for.

Cocke County Marriage Book page 551

----------------------------
A genealogy links to a WWI record for Etta's husband, in the name of Leonard
Huges Carver. The marriage record tell us Leonard married in 1906, yet when
he registered for the WWI draft in 1917, he reported he was single. But in
the 1920 census, Leonard Carver is reported with his wife and children. This
must indicate that the genealogy that linked to this WWI record has chosen the
wrong Leonard Carver.

The Carver genealogy has a gravestone, in the same cemetery and matching the
same style as Etta's, for another Leonard Carver, whose fullname is Thomas
Leonard Carver. This Leonard Carver was born in 1886 and died in 1935. A
social seccurity record matching the above Leonard Hughes Carver also is
linked on the same genealogy. This Leonard Carver did not die until 1877.

Notes for Eleanor of CASTILE

King of England EDWARD I Plantagenet; Marriage 18 Oct 1254 to Princess ELEANOR
de Castile in Abbey de Las Huelgas, Burgos, Castile
-- Geist Family,
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10540841/person/-580714189?ftm=1

This genealogy provides good detail of the location, in contrast to an
otherwise good article in Wikipedia. The Wikipedia article also reports that
the wedding took place on 1 November 1254, whereas the Geist genealogy says it
was 18 October 1254.

Eleanor of Castile
Birth 1241, Spain
Death Nov. 28, 1290 Harby, Newark and Sherwood District, Nottinghamshire,
England

English Monarch. Queen consort of King Edward I "Longshanks". The daughter of
Ferdinand III of Castile (St. Ferdinand) and Joan of Ponthieu, she was married
to Edward in 1250. She was 9, Edward was 15. Although this was purely an
arranged, political marriage, it developed into a strong love affair. The
couple had 16 children, but only 4 reached adulthood. Eleanor accompanied
Edward on crusade to the Holy Land from 1270 to 1272, during which time she is
reported to have saved his life after he was wounded. They returned to
England, and upon the death of King Henry III, were crowned in 1272. She died
in Nottinghamshire while en route to Scotland to join Edward. So grieved was
Edward at her death, he ordered a cross erected at each stop her funeral
cortege made during the journey back to London. Of the 12 "Eleanor Crosses",
three are still standing today. (bio by: Kristen Conrad)

Notes for Ferdinand III King of CASTILE

"Saint Ferdinand III (August 5, 1199 - May 30, 1252), was the King of Castile
from 1217 and King of Galicia and Leon from 1230. Through his second marriage
he was also Count of Aumale. He finished the work done by his maternal
grandfather Alfonso VIII and consolidated the Reconquista. In 1231, he
permanently united Castile and Galicia-León. He was canonized in 1671 and, in
Spanish, he is Fernando el Santo or San Fernando. "St Ferdinand was the son
of Alfonso IX of León and Berenguela of Castile. He was born at the monastery
of Valparaíso (Peleas de Arriba, Zamora) in 1198 or 1199. Ferdinand III of
Castile" -- Wikipedia, "Ferdinand III of Castile,"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_III_of_Castile Ferdinand was married
twice. His first wife was from the Hohenstaufen dynasty of Swabia. "In 1219,
Ferdinand married Elisabeth of Hohenstaufen (1203-1235), daughter of the
German king Philip of Swabia and Irene Angelina. Elisabeth was called Beatriz
in Spain" (Wikipedia). Beatriz is oftern anglicized to Beatrice. After he
was widowed, his second wife was Joan (Jeanne), Countess of Pontieu (also
called Joan of Dammartin). They married before August 1237.

George's son Eldon's Bible has a list of all the chdilren, including a girl
named Ester [Esther?], reported with a birth date in 1901. But she never
appears in any records. She must have died before the 1910 census. She is
also lacking from family genealogies i have seen. According to the birth
dates, she was the first child born, but the last listed. This may also be an
indication she had died young and was written in at the end.
