Notes for Samuel DUVALL

Millennium File
Mareen Duvall
Birth 1625 Nantes, France
Death Aug 1694 Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
Spouse Susanna Marie Brashears
Children:
Susanna Duvall
Samuel Duvall

Note that the compiled sources like this report that Samuel's mother is
Susannah Marie Brashears (Brasseur), who was his father's 3rd wife. However,
the commonly reported marriage date for Mars Mareen and Susannah is 1673,
after the birth date normally given for Samuel, 1667. The birth year of Mary
Bouth Duvall is reported as 1872. If Samuel's birth date is correct, Mareen's
1st wife Mary Bouth, not his second wife Susannah Brashears, would have been
his mother.

"Mareen Duvall; ... Of his children, ... Capt. John Duvall, who held a large
estate, married Elizabeth Jones, daughter of William Jones, Sr. Of Anne
Arundel County. Samuel Duvall married Elizabeth Clark, in 1687"

The 1910 census tells us that Cull and Ada married about 1904. In the census

Note that their son Clarence is reported born in Oklahoma. This is the same
in the 1930 census. This means they moved before 1915 across the border into
Oklahoma for some period of time, but then moved back south to Cass County,
Texas, before 1920. Then at some point before 1930 they moved to the
northeast into Ouachita County, Arkansas. Their son Clarence is still in the
home, age 15, as well as a niece Jewel Mallonee. Jewel is the daughter of
Cull's sister Ethel.

They were apparently living in Louisiana in 1937 when Ada died. Or perhaps
she was in a hospital there. This is the Shreveport area bordering both
Arkansas and Texas. She was buried in Ouachita County, where they had been
living earlier, and where Cull was later buried also. Ouachita County,
Arkansas, is about two counties northeast of Caddo Parish.

--------------------
David Dycus, b 1834, Rutherford, NC, lived in Whitfield, GA

I have recently found my Dycus ancestors after finding the 1900 census record
listing my great-grandmother Lula Dycus. Her father was James Larkin Dycus
and his father was Davd Dycus. I have seen many Ancestry.com trees listing
David's middle name as William but have no source information for that middle
name.

Instead, I DO see sources for a middle initial of A, which seems to match a
story posted in one tree about Civil War service in Savannah. Other census,
voting, legal, etc. records for David A Dycus put him in the same Vernell, Red
Clay, neighborhood as my David Dycus.

His Find a Grave memorial has his name as Gold Byron Dycus. This is the only
place where the B is represented by Byron. In the 1860 census, he was Elisaha
G Dycus, in 1870, Goldbury. His father was Goldsbury, and he had a nephew
named Jasper Goldsbury. It is almost certian his actual name was Elisha
Goldsbury Dycus. Goldsbury is sometimes represented as two names, and his
nephew went by Barry. The name was very common, and was often Berry.
