Names of children in this family in the 1850 census do not have a clear match
for Frances L Green. But reported birth year in undocumented genealogies was
22 June 1835. This would make her about age 15 in 1850. TYhe closest match
to that if the name that looks like T R Greeen, Female, age 14. The capital
letters of this enumerator are strange, and not consistent. The first initial
looks like T, not F, but the second is clearly an R, compared to other letters
on the page.

The following memorial on Find a Grave seems to refer to Frances, daughter of
John Thomas Green. But it reports her birth date as August 1860, while in the
1870 census, Frances was reported as 4 years old, so born in about 1866. In
1880 she was 13. Her name on her gravestone is spelled Francis. The burial
location matches Frances, but this may be a different individual. Her husband
here is reported as Scott Thomas, which could be the M S Thomas reported as
her husband in the marriage record above. No ages were reported in that
marriage index record.

But I nopt e that the 1900 census reported her birth date as August 1866. The
date of 1860 on the FAG memorial may be just a typo. Note that the gravestone
for Thomas a Francis does not have any dates, only tehir names. The dates in
the memorial were reported by the creator of the memorial.

The middle initial M here probably represents a nickname Em as a short form of
the name Emory, which appears in his full name on the California Death record
below.

George's date of birth on the grave info below is 6 August 1916. This accords
with his reported age of 3 in the 1920 census. But in 1930 he is reported as
only 12 years old. In what appears to be his the correct marriage records,
George reports his age as 19 in 1935.

Note that when they married in 1935, both George and Jewel living in DeQueen,
Arkansas, just over the border from Oklahoma. This is quite a distance away
form Duncan, Oklahoma, where he was living in his parents in 1930. My thanks
to cousin an coresearcher Marion Mixon for finding this marriage record. The
census shows that George's parents had also moved to DeQueen from Parmer
County, Texas, and the 1940 census reports that was their residence in 1935.
But they were back in Parmer County for the 1940 census, where they were
reported as resident in Friona.

George Green

Spouse's Name Jewel Wells
Spouse's Age 16, Spouse's Residence DeQueen, Sevier, Arkansas

For the 1940 census, they were enumerated in Parmer County, Texas, where his
aprents ahd previouslylliived and had mvoed back befroe the 1940 census. In
1940 hsi paretns were living in the town of Friona, while George and Jewel
were living out in the county farming. This census reported that in 1935 they
are also living in Parmer County. This is possible if they moved soon after
their marriage. That adds more uncertainty, though, as to why they were
living in DeQueen, Arkansas in September 1935 when they got married.

A quick check on other familly records clarifies somewhat that their whole
famliy have been living in DeQueen in 1935. Taylor and Mattie's record in the
1940 census shows that they and the unmarreid sons Elmer and Glen were living
in DeQueen in 1935. So it appears George and his new wife moved on earlier,
soon after their marriage, then his parents and brothers joined them some time
the next year or later. They were all enumerated in Friona, Texas, near the
New Mexico border.

Notes for Glen Woodrow GREEN

Loretta Gregory Gay, a cousin of Glen, reports that he lived in Clovis, New
Mexico.

When his first wife Jo died, he moved to one of the southern states. Glen was
born in 1921. He appears in the 1930 census with an age of 8, because his 9th
birthday was a few days after the census date.

1930 Federal Census, Parmer County, Texas, 23 April, Justice Precinct 2,

Green, Mattie Wife F W 35 Married at 17 yrs old OK MS TN
Green, Glen Son M W 8 OK TX OK

For some reason for which we have not found records to explain, Taylor and
Mattie moved their family to DeQueen, Arkansas, in the Washita mountains along
the western border with Oklahoma. George, Glen's older brother, married there
in September 1935.

Some time after 1935 and before the 1940 census, Glen's parents moved back to
Friona, Texas, along with Glen and his single brother Elmer. Their older
brother George had moved near the end of 1935, soon after his marriage in
DeQueen in September 1935. The 1940 census reports that George's resdience in
1935 was Rural Parmer County, while the rest of the family are still in
DeQueen.

After the death of his spouse Jo, Glenn married the widow of his brother Harry
B Green, Dorothea Marion Benger. Note the spelling difference on the Marriage
record. I am told by Hugh Green that Dorothea was the original name, but at
some point she herself went to court to change the spelling to Dorthea. At
the time he married Dorthea, they were in Randall County, Texas. Directory
listings report them there for the next three years before he died in late
1992.

Notes for Hannah McSwain GREEN

The Green name in this family lineage is sometimes spelled Greene, by both
family sources and othes. Different Green and related family sources show the
name both ways, and some individuals have apparently preferred one spelling
over the other, generation to generation.

Harry Green lived at Canyon, Texas. I learned the name of his wife Dorothea
from the Green-Lovin-Brewer genealogy. Hugh Green informed me, through email
from Rachel Ruthart, that Dorothea went to court at some point to have her
name legally changed from Dorothea to Dorthea.

Harry and Dorthea had four children. Loretta Gregory Gay says he had a son
named Richard. In October 2010, I received a photo of their gravestone giving
years of birth and death for Harry and Dorothea. There are three children
reported in the household in the 1940 census. This would mean that the one
named Richard known by the Green-Gregory family in Oklahoma was the youngest
child, born some time after the 1940 census. As of October 2010, Doyle had
died but three others were still living. Hubert later went by Hugh.

The SSDI reports Harry's last stated residence was Canyon, Randall County,
Texas. The Green-Lovin-Brewer genealogy, while including this report from the
SSDI, however, reports that he died in Amarillo, Potter County. His death
certificate which I did not see until October 2010 tells us he died in a
hospital in Amarillo, as I had earlier surmised. After his death his wife
Dorthea marreid Harry's widowed brother Glen Woodrow, whose wife had died in
1983 in Umpire, Arkansas.

The SSDI records only the month and year of Harry's death. The Texas Death
Index records the full date of 17 July 1987 and reports Potter County as the
county of death. His death certificate was provided to me by Rachel Ruthart
in October 2010.
