Rosella is reported as the daughter of Rube Ellenberg. But note that she is 6 years old, and her mother married Rube only in 1938. Rosella was born about 1934, 4 years before Josie married Rube, and 3 years before Roe Dempsey died. So it appears she should have been reported as a step daughter. Josie's two sons Thelma and Elvis are reported as stepsons, with the correct surname of Dempsey. But Thelma is reported as a girl, though in all other records, he is reported as a boy. Note that Eliza's death certificate reported her birth date as 22 Oct 1867, but in the 1870 census she was reported as 1 year old, which would mean she was born in October 1868, not 1867. Or alternatively, her parents reproted her age wrong and she was actually 2 years old in August 1870 (almost 3). 1870 Federal Census, Fleming County, Kentucky, 9 August, Hillsboro, PO Hillsboro, page 28, Hse #190, Fam #198 Elliott, Ben S 28 M W Farmer $0 Real Estate $250 Personal Estate born Kentucky [b abt 1842] Elliott, Priscilla 30 F W Keeping House born Kentucky [b abt 1840] Elliott, Eliza 1 F W born Kentucky [b abt 1868] McGregor, Cyntha 75 F W born Virginia [b abt 1795] By 1880, Eliza's parents had moved to Morgan County, Kentucky. 1880 Federal Census, Morgan County, Kentucky, [no date] June, District 87, page 16, Hse/Fam #130 Elliott, Ben S W M 39 Farmer Cannot Read or Write KY KY KY [b abt 1841] Elliott, Jane W F 41 Wife Keeping House KY VA VA [b abt 1839] Elliott, Eliza W F 11 Dau At Home Cannot Write KY KY KY [b abt 1869] Elliott, Cyntha W F 9 Dau Cannot Read or Write KY KY KY [b abt 1871] Elliott, Hulda W F 7 Dau Cannot Read or Write KY KY KY [b abt 1873] Kentucky, Death Records, 1852-1964 Eliza Ann Jent [Eliza Ann Elliott] Residence rural near Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky Birth 22 Oct 1867 Kentucky Father Ben Elliott Mother Percella Gregrey [Priscilla Gregory] Informant Millard Moore Death Age 94 yrs, 6 days Death 28 Oct 1961 Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky, USA Cause of Death Lobar Pneumonia for 1 week, due to Congestive Heart Failure Burial 3 October 1961 Templeman Cemetery, Morehead, Rowan, Kentucky Filed 2 November 1961
