Louisa may be the same daughter known as Amanda or Mandy, who married Robert
Smith. Amanda's death certificate says her parents were Bill Forrester and
Zenas Barnes, which appears to be the same Bill and Zenith. But we have
accounted for all their children and no Mandy or similar occurs in the
pertinent census records.

The daughter matching Louisa in later records is referred to by the names
Mandy, Manda or Amanda. Amanda married Robert Smith.

Terri Smith Escamillo and I have worked together to confirm Amanda's identity.
Terri has probed it extensively. We have eliminated other possibilities Terri
concludes that Louisa is the same as Mandy. This seems to account for the
information we have.

Amanda Forrester married Robert Smith, and they are found in Tennessee in 1900
and in Oklahoma by 19120. Amanda Forrester Smith died in Pauls Valley,
Oklahoma, in 1940. Her death certificate reports that her parents were Bill
and Zenis Forrester, seeming to refer to our William and Zenith.

Terri discusses Amanda Forrester Smith and her family.

"Manda Forrester Smith and Robert Smith are my great grandparents and their
son Martin Lee Arthur Van Buren is my grandfather that I didn't know. Robert
and Mart were born in Georgia and my dad Leman Smith was born in Henryetta,
Oklahoma, but my mother divorced him when I was 9 years old. My dad joined
the Navy when he was 17 and was in California where he met my mom in
Cupertino, California and married the same year. I was born in San Jose and
lived most of my life in Santa Clara County until 6 years ago when my husband
and I moved to Petaluma in Northern California, but both sides of my family
are from Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma and Missouri."
-- Terri Escamillo, email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 28 February 2011

We have found no single record or reference that contains the both the names
Louisa and Amanda. Other facts fit pretty well to provided a full-life
picture of Louisa Amanda.

The first record I found under the name Amanda is the 1900 census where she
and her husband Robert Smith are living in James County, Tennessee, before
they moved to Oklahoma, where they were enumerated in 1910.

James is reported born in Texas. This means they moved from Georgia to Texas
between October 1883 and December 1885. Then after James' birth, they were
not in Texas a whole year, before they moved back to Georgia, where Carter was
born in December 1886. I wonder why they would make such a major move, then
come right back after such a short time.

All the other children were born in Georgia. Thus they moved into Tennessee
about a year or so before this census. Before long, though, they were back
out west.

In age, David here matches John D of 1900. There is a discrepancy in age and
reported birth date in 1900 compared to the age in 1910. Birthdays are not
very reliable in the 1900 census. Family sources identify this child as John
David, known as Dave, also called D W for some reason. Epheham, whose age
reports overlap with Dave in these reports, is reported with separate details.
Epheham died and was buried in Ada, while Dave died in Pauls Valley and is
buried in Mt Olivet Cemetery.

Berry matches James A because there is only one child born in Texas. All
other children were born in Georgia, except Robert, who was born after they
moved to Oklahoma. The age of Robert indicates they moved there after the
creation of the State of Oklahoma in December 1907.

It is not clear from this evidence whether the initial A was an error or Berry
is a nickname. Berry is often a proper given name, but is also sometimes a
nickname for the popular name Greenberry. The middle initial in James' 1920
census record fits with the given name William. But William was listed as
well as James in 1900, and two years older than James.

At least one genealogy has James William Raspberry as one child, combining the
two children William and James of the 1900 census. This does not seem
possible, since William and James were enumerated as two separate children in
1900, with different ages.

Some other genealogies do have Berry as William's middle name. Berry matches
James here. No further clarification has been found on the names. This also
matches later censuses where the wife of James is named Kizzia (or Kizzie) and
her husband is sometimes reported as Berry.

Another note about Amanda Forrester Smith on the 1910 census she states she
gave birth to 17 children with 13 living, however, all the info I have
obtained. I can only identify 12 children:

"My grandmother always had said that there was Cherokee Indian in her line. We
have never been able to prove that. However as I research the Franklin line I
hear many references to that same mystery. Easom and Luvina Forrester are
parents of Esom Franklin (1817) who married Susan Collier. Their daughter
Mariah Franklin (1850) married John Baptiste Dorway who is my Great
Grandfather. My grandmother Violet Dorway was the one who always told us that
she was part Cherokee."

Terri Smith, a great-granddaughter of Manda, shared these bits of information
in some exchanges with me. Terri has developed a genealogy focusing on the
Forrester line. Originally Terri and some other researchers understood
Martha's middle name and main name to be Manda. Terri's great grandmother is
named Amanda Forrester, and some genealogies report this Amanda as a child of
William Forrester and Zenith Barnes Forrester. Amanda's Oklahoma death
certificate reports that her parents were Bill Forrester and Zenis Barnes,
which certainly sounds like our William and Zenith. However, no Amanda ever
appears with William and Zenith in censuses.

Her original comments reflected this:
"Manda Forrester is my great grandmother and we believe her full name to be
Martha Manda Forester married to Robert Smith. Her parents are William
Forrester and Zenith Barnes of South Carolina. An early census says Zenith had
7 children, but only 6 living as Thalia Ann, Mary Adalina, Martha Manda,
Joseph N, and Louisa N [and Nancy M]. The birth dates for Manda vary from 1861
to 1866 on the censuses. Any idea who the 7th is and it appears they died
young and Martha Manda's real birth date I have a tree on ancestry.com Smith,
McClellan, Findley etc that searched the Forresters quite a way back starting
with William b-1819."
-- Terri Smith Escamillo, personal message on genealogy site Our Family Tree,
27 February 2011

I determined that Martha was not Amanda. Terri later changed her view as well
and information seemed to build to the conclusion that Amanda was the daughter
known in early records as Louisa.

Some genealogies have merged Amanda and Martha, taking Martha's middle initial
M as the name Manda for Amanda. This is not possible, however, due to census
records establishing Amanda and Martha as two separate individuals. Martha is
still single and living with her mother in the 1900 census, while Amanda is
found in James County, Tennessee, with her husband Robert Smith. They later
moved to Indian Territory. Manda is honored on a gravestone with the names of
several of her family members, including her sister Martha, named a Meall on
the stone.

The 1900 census reports that Martha's mother Zenith has borne 7 children, but
only 5 are accounted for in the census reports of 1860-1880. Only 4 children
are reported as still living in 1900, which accounts for the 3 in the 1880
census and Nancy in the 1870 census. With these accounting for the 4 reported
as living, the others must have died before 1900.

When enumerated for the 1900 census, Martha was still single and living with
her widowed mother. Martha's father William died in 1894. Living in the
household is also a boarder, whose name appears to be spelled Winnie Findly
(Findley or Finley). I have not found Martha after 1900.

Terri Escamillo obtained and shared with me a copy of Martha's death
certificate, which gives her name as Mill Foster. The parents' names match,
though the last name is Foster instead of Forrester. Terri provides other
information from her research and family sources.

------------------------
Zenith did have 7 children according to the census as follows:
Thalia Ann, Mary Adeline, Harriet J. (died as a child), Nancy M, Martha Mealle
(never married and is buried with sister "Mandy Smith", Joseph N, and Louisa
Amanda "Mandy." Mandy was born between 1865-1867 and died 1940 Paul's Valley,
OK.
-- Terry Escamillo, note on genealogy Our Family Tree,

------------------------

It appears Martha is the person named simply as Meall on the joint tombstone
with her sister Amanda (Louisa) Smith, with several other members of Amanda's
Smith family. On the grave her name is Meall, with no further last name. The
single gravestone has several family names on it, as a single grave. But the
only surname is Smith across the top, making it appear that all names were
members of the Smith family. She is reported on her death documents simply as
Mill Foster [instead of Forrester]. Mill was never married.

The cause of death was uremic poison[ing], which is the result of kidney
failure. Concerning burial, Mill's death certificate says burial was in Pauls
Valley. The Funeral Register, which has the same information as the death
certificate, states further that burial was in the Mt Olivet Cemetery of Pauls
Valley. But her name does not appear, either under Forrester or Foster, in
the Mt Olivet register compiled by the Oklahoma GenWeb Project.
-- Mt Olivet http://www.okgenweb.org/~okgarvin/mtolivet/olivetfsurnames.htm

Her death certificate has her name as Mill Foster, and Mill's parents as Bill
Foster and Zenas Barns [sic]. This matches Martha, whose full name Terri
Escamillo says is Martha Mealle Forester. Martha (Mill) never married. Mill
died in or near Pauls Valley. The death certificate says she lived east of
town.

Adalina is firwst reported in the census in 1850 under the name Mary A, as the

The census reports Adalina's older sister Thalia (Thalla) as born in SC and
Mary A born in Geogia. So the family moved to Georgia in about 1848. Later
censuses report Thalia also as born in Georgia. It would appear that this
1850 census is correct, being close to the date of birth of both girls and
soon afte the move to Georgia.

An early census says Zenith had 7 children, but only 6 living as Thalia Ann,

Notes for Thalia Ann FORRESTER

Thalia is enumerated for the first time at age 3 in the 1850 census under the
name Thalla.

Thalla Foster [Forrester] 3 M born SC [b abt 1847]
Mary A Foster [Forrester] 1 M born SC [b abt 1849]

Thalia is found under the nickname Thaly Ann in the 1870 and 1880 censuses.
In the 1860 census with her parents, she is listed as Thala A. In 1900 she is
simply Ann.

Notice that the 1850 census reports that Thalia (Thalla) was born in South
Carolina, and the next child born in Georgia. But alter censuses report
Thalia also born in Georgia. The older one would like be more correct, since
they would have no reason to report one child born in SC and the second one
born in GA, and it was closer in time to the move to Georgia. So the birth
state will be reported in this genealogy as South Carolina, despite later
census reports, which we will consider as erroneous in light of the earlier
evidence closer to her birth.

Note the child enumerated here as William Corbin. He is called Yearby in most
sources. The 1880 census almost got it right with Irby.

This census did note report the relationship to the head of household, which
began in the 1880 census. Some sources have mistaken Thalia's son Yearby for
a son of her second husband, Martin Burton Mullins. I had determined this was
an error, but had not found the Corbin family link, till Betty Jackson
informed me in August 2007 that her husband was descended from a sister of
Thalia Ann named Mary A Forrester. Betty gave me the name of Jack Corbin, the
father of William, and some basic information that enabled me to trace out the
family.

There was only one child from their marriage, William Yearby Corbin, because
Jack went off to the war, and apparently was killed before he had a chance to
return home. I found a genealogy by a Corbin descendant, Bill Corbin, with
some excellent information on Andrew Jackson and his parents. From Bill's
genealogy I learned that Thalia had married Jack (Andrew Jackson) Corbin
before he enlisted to fight for the Confederacy in 1862. He was captured and
held in a Union prison camp in Vicksburg for several months before being
released "on parole" in July 1863. But he went back into battle, and was
killed in an unspecified battle in 1864, before he could go back home.

From the dates Bill provides, it appears that Thalia married Jack 25 May 1861,
before her 15th birthday in September. Jack enlisted in the Confederate Army
on 10 March 1862. William was born 5 October 1862, about a month after his
mother's 16th birthday.

Birth estimates will vary because of the discrepancies in the census age
reports. I am following the date of Sep 1846, found in her record of marriage

In 1900, Thalia is listed simply as Ann Mullins. Note that the reprot says
she has borne 10 children, and only 2 are living, and there are two children
living with her in the home.

Thalia Ann's gravestone has a birth date of Sept 15, 1`841. But this is years
older than the reprots of her ages in the census. The 1900 census census,
which specifically reported birth month and year, reports her born in
September 1846. The 1860 census reported her as 14, consistent with birth in
1846. Ages in the census reported here vary, but the earliest birth year
would be 1845. It seems to me that the date of birth on the gravestone is
wrong.

Notes for Thomas P FORRESTER

Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865
U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles
Thomas P Forrester
Residence: Pickens County, Georgia
Enlistment Date: 31 Aug 1861, Rank 2nd Sergt
Enlisted in Company E, Georgia 23rd Infantry Regiment on 31 Aug 1861
Service Record: Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 16 Dec 1861
Promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant

This enlistment record may be for a younger Thomas Forrester. I have not been
able to document another Thomas Forrester in Pickens County, but it seems it
was a common name. Our Thomas, born around 1894 would have been about 64 when
he volunteered and was mustered. But the Confederacy did have many older men
under arms. In the Civil War, everybody fought, though the preference was
younger men. The south was way short of men compared to the populous north.

The 1870 census records Thomas and his wife Mary in Pickens County, Georgia.

One or two genealogies report the name of Thomas wife as Mary Tilly. WIth
that in mind I was able to find a marriage record, but it can't be our Thomas
and Mary. The marriage was in 1800, almost twenty years too early for our
couple, born in about 1794 and 1797. This makes it look like the maiden name
of Tilley someone reported in their undocumented genealogy is just due to more
sloppy patchwork trying to make available names fit the need of filling empty
fields in someone’s tree! Maybe there will be another Mary Tilly/Tilley of
the next generation who can marry our Thomas about 1816-1818.

North Carolina Marriage Collection, 1741-2004
William Forrester
Spouse: Mary Tilley
Marriage Date: 11 Feb 1800
Marriage State: North Carolina

Genealogies report a different person as the wife of Thomas and mother of
William. The Lance Family Tree has Thomas' wife as Sarah (Sally) Harris.
Note that Sarah's date of death on this genealogy is 1853. This might explain
the discrepancy. Mary could be the second wife, married after the death of
Sarah. But we will see this won't work either.

Sarah Sally Harris
Birth 1803 in South Carolina
Death 4 Jul 1853 in Kentucky
Parents Benjamin Harris 1778-1861
Elizabeth Weaver 1779-1853
Marriage to Thomas P. Forrester 14 Mar 1822 in Harlan, Harlan, Kentucky
-- Lance Family, http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/25164897/person/1617414395

An additional problem occurs with this proposed link-up. Thomas married Sarah
in 1822, according to the Lance family genealogy, but the age of William
indicates he was born in about 1819, so it would mean that Thomas had another
wife before Sarah. Another Forrester researcher, Terri Smith Escamillo, found
the name of this first wife as J Mary but no last name, as proposed by yet
another genealogy. Later Terri came to think the listing in some genealogies
of Sarah Harris as a wife of Thomas was wrong. It looks like two different
Forrester lines or families have been combined here by these genealogies.
(See further notes below.)

Since we know that Thomas was married to someone named Mary in 1870, who had
died before 1880 (when Thomas is a widower), the J Mary would have to be the
first of three wives for Thomas Forrester. The Dedman genealogy has the birth
date of Mary J as 1803.

J. Mary
Birth 1803 in South Carolina, Death in Pickens County, Georgia
Spouse Thomas Forrester b 1803
Sons:
William M Forrester 1819-1894
Ezekiel Forrester b 1828 [This may be the son of Sarah Harris, who was married
to a different Thomas Forrester, in Kentucky]
-- Dedman Family, http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/2946109/person/245834062

These discrepancies are best accounted for by the simplest scenario, Thomas
had one wife name Mary, and they lived together till she died between 1870 and
1880. These other marriages are due to mis-matches and combinations of two or
more Thomas Forrester families. In our separate but communicating lines of
research, Terri Escamillo also came to the conclusion that Thomas was married
to only one wife, Mary, the mother of William. A problem with the Dedman
genealogy and many others is that they do not document where they got their
information or document only some.

In 1870, Thomas and his wife Mary are living next door to their son, William.
The 4-year-old Joseph N who was enumerated in Thomas' household is Thomas'
grandson, son of William and his wife Zenith Barnes Forrester.

1870 Federal Census, Pickens County, Georgia, 25 July, PO Jasper, page 111

Forester Martha M 8 F W At Home born Georgia [b abt 1862]
Forester Louisa 3 F W born Georgia [b abt 1867]

Next door to William is a household headed by an Ezekiel Forester, age 42.
This may be William's brother, and is reported so in the Dedman genealogy
above. But that genealogy also reports the same mother for these two children
(the only two reported by the genealogy), a Mary J (Unknown>. Since Thomas
Forrester married Sarah Smith in 1822, an earlier wife, Mary J would not be
the mother of Ezekiel. But this genealogy is incomplete, showing no other
wives for Thomas, and no other children besides William and Ezekiel.

Further, the census records that have been attached to the tree on Ancestry
are from different families, and the death of Thomas is also reported to have
been in Kentucky, though he was living in Pickens, Georgia with his son
William in 1880. There is the same problem with his marriage in Kentucky to a
Sarah Smith, as well as her birth and death in Harlan, Kentucky.

Wouldn't it make more sense that this Sarah lived in Kentucky, even if she had
been born in South Carolina, married in Kentucky and died in Kentucky, married
to a different Thomas Forrester, who also lived and died in Kentucky?
Genealogies that have Sarah as the wife of Thomas and mother of William do not
tell where they got her information or the marriage date in 1822. This seems
to be the wife of a different Thomas Forrester.

By 1880, Thomas' wife Mary has died and he is living with his son William.

I have not figured out just who this Francis Mullinax is. Living next door is
William's parents. William and Zenith's youngest child Joseph N is enumerator
in the household of his grandparents. From other family information, there is
a child missing here. An Amanda Forrester, who married Robert Berry Smith,
has also been reported as another daughter of William and Zenith.

She was born in 1861, but none of the children in the 1860 or 1870 census
match this Amanda. Though her Oklahoma death certificate reports that
Amanda's parents were "Bill" and "Zenis" Forrester, very close to our William
and Zenith, I have found not evidence actually tying her to this William and
Amanda Forrester. Nor have I, working with another Forrester researcher, been
able to discover alternative parents for Amanda.

No daughter named Amanda appears in the 1880 census, either, though Amanda
Forrester Smith is reported to be a daughter of William and Zenith. A
descendant wrote to provide some additional details on this family, while
looking for some missing data as well. Terri Escamillo told me that her great
grandmother was named Amanda, or Manda/Mandy. Initially it was thought that
Manda was the same daughter as Martha, whose middle initial was M.

I had found Martha Forrester in the 1900 census with her mother Zenith, and
then found Amanda Forrester Smith in Tennessee in 1900 with her known husband
Robert Smith, in Tennessee. In 1910 they show up in Oklahoma, where they
lived in Pauls Valley till Amanda died in 1940. This meant Amanda and Martha
were not the same person. Terri later confirmed that she also had come to
think differently, finding independent evidence about Amanda.

"An early census says Zenith had 7 children, but only 6 living as Thalia Ann,
Mary Adalina, Martha, Joseph N, and Louisa N [Louisa L in census records, and
another daughter Nancy M]. The birth dates for Manda vary from 1861 to 1866 on
the censuses."
-- Terri Smith Escamillo, personal message on genealogy site Our Family Tree,
27 February 2011

In January 2012, I discussed this matter with Terri again, after finding the
separate 1900 census records for Martha and Amanda. Terri replied:

"I have never found documents for Amanda when she was a child. I have censuses
with William and Zenith and their other children though. The only place I find
their names is Amanda's death cert. I have talked to the woman who has the
tree with the TN census and it's been a while but I believe it is the
Forrester family she is researching the line for her husband's side."
-- Terri Smith Escamillo, note on genealogy site Our Family Tree, 3 January
2012

"Zenith is Zenith Barnes of South Carolina b-1829 and d-1907 Jerusalem Georgia

Martha Forrester birth betwn 1861 and 1866 Jerusalem, Georgia"
-- Terri Smith Escamillo, note on genealogy site Our Family Tree, 27 February
2011

Terri also points out that her ancestor, Amanda Forrester is another daughter
of William and Zenith, but she has not found birth or census information on
her. Her grave information in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, indicates she is their
daughter. Amanda appears in some Forrester genealogies, but not in others.

William and Zenith are buried side by side in Jerusalem Baptist Cemetery near
Jasper, Pickens County, Georgia. William's date of death is given on the
stone. His birth date on the broken stone is unreadable. He is identified
only by his initials. A memorial is posted on Find a Grave.

Notes for Ira J FORSYTH

Some genealogies report Ira J Forsyth as a child of Thomas J Forsyth and Nipsie
Stroud. But they did not marry until some time in the year 1902. The 1910
census reproted that Nipsie had had three children and all three are still
iving, rep[oprted inthat census. Ira was buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Red
River County, with other Forsyths, with the same birth and death year of 1902.

It is thought that Ira J Forsyth was the stillborn child of Thomas' father
Jason Forsyth and hsi second wife Lavonia Reed. Lavonia died sometime about
1902, because later that year Jason married Amanda White Moore a widow who
lived nearby. It is thought she died in childbirth, which would match this
burial of Ira.

Ira shares a gravestone put up later after two other chidlren died. The girls
Dessa and Nellie aer the chiudlren of Thomas and Nipsie.

Jim Forsyth was one of the Tennesseans who fought for the Union in the Civil
War.

------------------------
James Bailey Forsyth was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee but unlike other
Lincoln County men joined the Union Army and fought against his neighbors and
possibly relatives who served as Confederate soldiers.

State Served: Tennessee

Though this Civil War record matches our James Bailey Forsyth, we also find
that James had already migrated to Texas several months before the Civil War
started. What appears to be James and Francis, with a son David (who does not
appear in later censuses of this family) were enumerated there in the 1860 US
census with his wife Francis and their children, in Kaufman County, east of
Dallas County.

It would seem most likely that he joined the Union forces from this location,
but that would have presented impediments, since Texas and the southern Native
tribes of Indian Territory joined the Confederacy, as well as the surrounding
states of Arkansas and Louisiana. So how he would gotten through to join
Union forces from east Texas is unclear.

After the war, like so many others, he settled in east Texas, living in
various counties in the northeast corner, then moving across the Red River
into the Creek Nation of Indian Territory. By 1900 James and his wife Francis
Moore, with their two youngest children, were in Creek Nation, north of the
Red River. Some of their children continued to live in northeast Texas.

What is definitely our James and Francis were enumerated in 1870 in the
northeast Texas county of Titus.

James B Forsyth
Birth Mar 1833 Fayetteville, Lincoln, Tennessee
Death Date Dec 1914
RLDS Deceased Files/ Shawnee, Texas, RLDS Branch Records
James B Forsyth was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints on 24 September 1911 at Dalby Springs, Bowie,
Texas, by L A Quick. He was confirmed by E A Erwin and L A Quick. He
attended the Shawnee, Texas Branch.

Shawnee is in Angelina County, which is considerably south of the areas where
we know he lived.] Dalby Springs is the core area of the family's residence,
and the place of birth of several of James and Francis' children. They moved
across the Red River in Creek Nation, as indicated by the 1900 census. But
his death is reported in Bowie County, Texas. Angelina County is out of
bounds of anything else we know about the family. They would have to travel
several days to get to Shawnee. Perhaps there was another unregistered
community in northeast Texas called Shawnee locally.

At some time before the 1900 census, they moved north into Creek Nation.

DEATH Dec 1914 (aged 79)
BURIAL Cedar Creek Cemetery, Red River County, Texas

James Bailey Forsyth was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee but unlike other
Lincoln County men joined the Union Army and fought against his neighbors and
possibly relatives who served as Confederate soldiers.
State Served: Tennessee
Service Record: Enlisted as a Corporal.
Enlisted in Company B, 6th Mounted Infantry Regiment Tennessee.
[This seems somewhat questionable, since there is a census record that appears
to be for James and his wife Francis in Kaufman County, Texas, for 1860. I
does not seem he would have joined the Union forces from Texas in a Tennessee
regiment. Perhaps they are two very similar couples.]

In December 1880, Jason married Emily Christian. Several genealogies report
her name as Amanda Emily Christian, conflating the names of Jason's first and
third wivew. Jason's wife in the 1910 and 1920 censuses is reported as Amanda
or Mandy.

A marriage record is found that gives more information on Lavonia. A marriage
reocrd has her name as Lafania Read. We had found the name as Reed.

If this is the same Jason Forsyth, it would seem to mean that Emily Christian
died before 1898. But after 1900, Jason's wife is named Amanda or Mandy.
Some genealogies name Emily Christian as Amanda Emily Christian. In light of
current research, this is untenable, seeming to be a conflation of the names
of Emily Christian and Amanda (White).

As we analyse the 1910 and 1920 censuses, we find that Amanda/Mandy is
reported born in Arkansas, while Lavonia was reported born in Texas. From
this it appears that this Mandy or Amanda is again a thrid wife. Yet many
sources identify her as the same Emily Chirstian of the 1880 census, naming
her Amanda Emily Christian. This ignores the 1898 marriage of Jason to
Livonia Reed.

The great body of records gathered now indicarte clearly that Emily Christian
was Jason's first wife, and Amanda White was his third wife. In between he
was married to Lavonia or Livonia Reed for about four years, before she died.

Researcher Lynda Soape Lewis discovered Amanda's name as Amanda White. We had
not found a record with this surname, but the other information about Amanda's
marriage to Frank M Moore matches the information we had found earlier
concerning Amanda's first marriage. But we had not found that marriage record
or Ora Moore Goodman's death certificate reporting the name of her father..

"I found Jason married to a Amanda "Mandy" White Moore in 1910. She had two
children by a previous marriage Audry Love Moore & Ola Esther Moore. Both
children were listed as Jason' daughter. However, in the 1900 Census, Amanda
Moore was a widow with the same two children. Also, I found their father to be
Frank M Moore as stated on Ora Ester Moore Goodman's death certificate."

Note that the 1910 census reports that this is Jason's second marriage, but in
fact Amanda White is his third wife. The census reports they have been
married for 8 years, meaning they married in about 1902. This must mean that
Lavonia Reed died after only about four years of marriage.

Notes for John A FORSYTH

In the 1900 census, John was reported as the 17-year-old son of Jason A Forsyth
and his wife Lavonia. An oddity here is that an 1880 marriage record in Cass
County, Texas, (just south of Bowie County) reports the marriage of Jason A
Forsyth to Emily Christian, ages of neither one reported on the marriage
record. John's death certificate in Morris County, just west of Cass County,
reported his mother as Emily McChristian.

This is consistent with the marriage record, and we do find some of the
Christian family line reported under the name of McChristian as well as
Christian. This census record would make it appear that Lavonia here is a
different wife from the Emily Christian whom Jason married in 1880. However,
in the 1910 and 1920 censuses the wife of Jason is again reported as Amanda,
which Christian family researchers know as another name of Emily Christian, as
Amanda Emily Christian. The 1920 census reports Jason's wife as Mandy.

The ages reported make Amanda/Mandy younger than the age we would expect for
Emily to match an 1880 marriage. On the other hand, we do know that reported
ages varied considerably record to record in that era, that not being a
technical focus like it became over the course of the 20th century into the
modern world.
