Notes for Bethia Obediah FULLER

Bethia was the wife of James B Ward. James was reported in the 1950 census for
Meriwether County, Georgia with a wife named Martha and a 1-year-old son named
Obadiah, according to the enumerator. In all later records, James' wife and
widow is reproted as Bethia. Her grave monument has her name as Mrs B O Ward.

The nmae on her marriage record in 1848 appears to be spelled Berthire.

Georgia, Marriage Records From Select Counties, 1828-1978

Martha Ward 20 F b South Carolina [b abt 1830]
Obadiah Ward 1 M b Georgia [b abt 1849]

Is this Martha the same person as the wife later reported as Bethiah, and
reported in genealogies as Bethia Obediah? All genealogies I have seen have
only one wife, Bethia. Martha is reported as born in South Carolina, the same
state of birth consistently reported for Bethia Fuller. Was she actually
named named Martha Bethia? A genealogy for the Miller family reports Bethia
as Bethia Obediah Fuller.

Bethria Obediah Fuller
Birth 1 MAY 1831 in South Carolina
Death 23 Feb 1906 in Cass Co, TX
Spouse Jim (J B) Ward

Death September 11, 1861 in Heard County, Georgia, Confederate Army
-- Miller, http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/13733560/person/457076126

I note that the Miller genealogy reports the exact same birth date for James
and Bethia. That is not very likely. I see that the date is Bethia's birth
date. In contrast, in the 1860 census, James is reported to be age 35, which
would make birth in about 1825. This matches his record in the 1850 census,
where he was reported as 26 years old. The place of death is also an error on
Jim. The name Heard County appears to be from a Confederate death record
reporting Heard County as the residence of a different J Ward who died on 30
July 1861. This further discredits the info on this Miller genealogy.

The report of Bethia's middle name as Obediah is also fishy. This is a man's
name and is the name of her first son. No record has been found
substantiating the name Obediah for Bethia. No genealogy presents a family or
publisc birth record. However, her memorial on Find a Grave also has her name
as Bethia Obediah Fuller Ward. No source for this name is reported in the
memorial. And the grave monument does have the name as B O Ward.

So who is this Martha? Maybe just an enumerator lapse? Maybe a third given
name?

must have moved with other families.

Fannie Lee is reported as the wife of Alexander Jones in the 1940 census for
Dallas, Texas. Their daughter Mamie Lee was born there in 1937, attested by
her Texas birth certificate and her reported age of 2 in the 1940 census.

No record for Fannie Fuller Ford has been found in the 1930 census, under
either her maiden name or her first married name of Ford. In the 1930 census,
Lester is reported as divorced, and his son Julian is with him in his parents'
home in Gregg County, Texas. Fannie married Alexander Jones about 1936.

In 1940 Alex and Fannie are married and have Mamie and a 1-year-old son
Herbert, as well as two chidlren named Ford, Julian and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth's birth certificate reports her father wsa Julius Ford, matching
other genealogy reports and public records.

No record of Julius and Fannie's divorce have been found, but Julian had two
other marriages and at least one of these ended in divorce. We will not try
to reproduce those records here. The Robnette genealogy reports their
marriage, as well as Fannie's marriage to Alexander Jones, but with reference
to no record, probably from family knowledge.

(Golden) Fullingim. He had just turned two years old when his next older

Notes for Robert Howard FULMER

Robert Fulmer was the first husband of Katheryn Alberta McBride. In the 1940
census Katheryn is married to her second husband and has the two Fulmer
children in her household, where they have been adopted by George Hicks, being
enumerated with the Hicks last name. The first possibility was that Robert
died after the birth of their second child Robert Jr in 1932. They would have
moved to San Antonio before 1932, since their son is reported born in Texas,
while the older daughter was born in Louisiana.

But a Social Security record appears to be for this Robert Fulmer. If this is
the right person, then Robert and Katheryn divorced after moving to San
Antonio, rather than his dying. They are together in the home of her parents
in the 1930 census, but in the 1940 census, Katheryn is married to George
Hicks in San Antonio, and George has adopted her two Fulmer children. They
married about 1936, so she and Robert must have divorced around 1935.
Katheryn son by George Hicks was born in 1937, so she probably married George
in about 1936.

Hardin, Margret Mother-in-Law M W 67 SC SC SC [b abt 1852]

Fulton was Ada's maiden name, and Hardin her mother's maiden name. Margaret
oddly appears here with her maiden name Hardin. The Alexander P Hardin here
is Ada's cousin, being the son of John Logan Hardin, according to the Hardin
family genealogy. John Logan Hardin was Margaret's brother, thus Alexander is
Margaret's nephew. Margaret and John's father was Elisha Hardin, their mother
Sarah Whisnant or Whisonant. In 1910, we found that Margaret's last name
there is her married name Fulton. I wonder why she took back her maiden name
after 1910. I have found no clue to this in the Hardin genealogy.

Ada's middle initial F here seems to stand for her maiden name Fulton. Fulton
and Hardin famliy genealogies give her name as Sarah Ada Fulton.
