Her reported age in the 1910 census below was 59, matching birth in abotu 1850 or 1851. Yet she was reported in the 1850 census, reported as age 1 already at that point. So she was born some time in 1849 or depending on her birth date, even 1848. The 1900 census reports her birth date as May 1850, which would be before the June date of the 1850 census. The actual date the simmons houseehold enumerated was in December, so they may have figured the age from December, instead of of as of census date of 1 June 1900. But even then she would not have been 1 year old, but only 6 months old. For some reason, the 1900 census is usually off by one year, probably due to the math approach they took. The month is probably correct, which appears to bean answer to a direct question. It appears the enumerator would work out the birth yeart form the age, leading to the wrong year. SInce she was 1 year old, the year appears to be 1849, not 1850. Louisa did not marry until she was about 29 years old. Several genealogies report Mary's maiden name as Gibson. Many also have her name as Mary Polly, perhaps not realizing that Polly is the common nickname for Mary. I have found no record to document her maiden name, but am following those genealogies in naming her Gibson. The first Pugh genealogy I found on this family does not have death dates or places for either Joshua or Mary. A few days later I found another genealogy with good detail on many of this family, including the information that Joshua and Mary were divorced. This genealogy states that several relatives had sworn that the couple had divorced, but the records were destroyed in a fire. This researcher does not provide a date for the divorce. Another researcher had found the name C M Gilbert as the wife of Joseph Benjamin Christian, who seems to be B F's son. Some genealogies have confused Joseph Benjamin Christian Sr with his father Benjamin Franklin Christian. The details may still lead to further clarification, but right now it appears that is the scenario. Dates and relationships do not match otherwise. This is a line of enquiry that should be followed. "My investigation has identified Benjamin Franklin Christian. first wife (CM) as Caroline Mabel Gilbert (1820 PA - 1863 TX)." -- Loyd Keith Farris, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 10 March 2017 A couple of genealogies have the marriage connection for B F and this Caroline Mabel Gilbert, but the records they attach are uncertain concerning Caroline's identity. A marriage record in Tennessee is attached in some genealogies for a marriage of a B F Christian and a Caroline Carr. These genealogies identify this Caroline Carr as originally Caroline Mabel Gilbert, born in Pennsylvania, which matches the wife of B F Christian in Fannin County in 1860. But our B F Christian in Fannin County, is reported born in Texas, rather than Tennessee, where his parents were from. Birth states are often wrong in the censuses, so this is not definitive. But other factors make this a difficult match, so this Tennessee marriage couple may be a different couple than we are looking for. But the marriage year 1839 was my first cause for concern, since other factors indicate that Joseph Benjamin Christian was born about 1835. I need to keep looking further for our B F Christian and his wife CM, who may indeed be Caroline Mabel Gilbert. There are still many gaps and details needed to fully reconstruct the lives of these individuals. Another record for a Caroline Carr who may be the same person, was reported in the records of the Quaker community in Buckinghamshire, Pennsylvania, where she died. That Caroline Carr died in 1865, while the same genealogies report that our Caroline Gilbert Christian died in 1863. All these factors would indicate that the Caroline Carr in Pennsylvania was a probably different person from the Caroline Carr in the Quaker records, unless she went back there at some point and where she died in Pennsylvania. But this does not seem to connect with anyone who moved to Texas. It seems likely a simple name association, rather than a continuity of identity. B F (Benjamin Franklin) was a common name in the Christian line(s) we run into, like the B F and Lavinia in Atchison, Missouri, who were also originally from Tennessee, but lived and died in Missouri, where they are buried.

But note that it is reported that "number of years of present marriage" are 26! When we know from other sources and the 1900 census that Frank and hsi second wife married only abotu 1898 or 1899, being married only 1 year in 1900. They are supposed to have been married 26 years. Maybe the enumerator put the total number of years married from the first marriage. But that doesnot match the first marriage either, since Frank and Mattie got matrried in 1887, 23 years before. The number of Martha's children here match with Margaret of 1900 also, sicne thes last three Gilbert chidlren are hers and the fourth would be her son Robert Ward, enumerated in the 1900 census as Isaac's (Frank's) stepson.
