Note that the 1880 census has not child names J B Green, as in the list above.
He should be in the census between James A, reported to be age 5 and John A,
age 4 here. There is a grave for a J B Green, reported in his FAG memorial to
be a child of John T and Mary R Green. But James A and John A were born only
about a year apart.

The birth date on JB's grave is 29 November 1875, matching the age of James A
in the 1880 census. The birth date on Johnnie A Green's FAG memorial is also
29 November, but the year 1876. The enumerator likely just wrote the wrong
middle initial for James. Their death dates are different. We have not seen
an image of the gravestone. And Johnnie is further attested in a death record
reporting his ful lhname as Johnnie Anthony Green with a wife named Leatha.

Notes for John Elias GREEN

In 1860 John is sharing a household with his brother Thomas. Both men are
married and have two children. Matt Cornwell tells us that John married Sarah
Boswell McSwain in 1852. The two older children in this census report are
theirs: Clemens, age 5 and L L age 4. I have marked the families with
different markers to indicate the family sets: * and ~. Neither wife is able
to read or write.

John Green and Judith Moore McSwain gave four of their children the middle name

Four additional children are reported by a McSwain-Green-Moore genealogy on

John Green b 1832
Joseph G Green b 30 Dec 1833 Rutherford County, North Carolina

-- McSwain-Green-Moore,
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2944410&id=I374

This same source also reports John's middle name: John Elias Green. This
source has deciphered the gravesite death date as 1793 rather than 1798. The
8 and 3 are often difficult to distinguish on old gravestones. The date of
1793 matches the census records for Elias Green in the 1850 Cleveland County,
North Carolina, census, where he is 57 years old.

I found Elias Green, with details matching John or John Elias Green, in the
1850 census, in a line of houses including many McSwain and Green households
in Cleveland County, North Carolina.

Notes for John Thomas GREEN

----------------------
John Thomas (Son of Andrew Jackson Green) was born in Hall County, on February
11, 1844 in District 570 (Known as the Whelchel District, named for John and
Davis Whelchel, pioneers who settled on little river about 1823.) This area is
north if Gainesville Georgia -- the same area where Mark and Joy Green live in
the year 2000. He died in Nectar in Blount County, Alabama on May 15, 1915.
John Thomas enlisted in the Confederate Army in March of 1862 at Marietta Ga.
The records show that he served in the 43rd Georgia infantry, Company B. under
Captain IT. Alexander until the war ended. (This is verified by the
information he gave in the 1907-8 Blount County Census of Confedrate
soldiers.)

Following the Civil war, John Thomas married Mary Rebecca Standridge on
September 24, 1865 in Hall County, Georgia and shortly thereafter moved to
Nectar in Blount County, Alabama. Mary was the daughter of Rev. Isaac and
Sarah E. Hall Standridge who are buried in Nectar Cemetery in Blount County,
Alabama. Mary Rebecca was born on March 24, 1845 in Hall County Georgia and
died on Dec. 8, 1902 in Nectar in Blount County, Alabama.

The birth states of the children tell us they moved from Hall County, Georgia
to Blount County, Alabama, between 1867 and 1870. If they have figured the
age of Elizabeth correctly back from the census date of 1 June, as provided in
the guidelines, she was born in about January 1870.

The name Elizabeth doe snot appear in 1880. She probably died before the
census. The 1900 census reports that Mary has had 10 children, but only 9 are
living. Some genealogies have conflated Elizabeth and Lydia. But even though
Lyddie's age is only 10 in 1880, she was reported as 4 years old in 1870, and
both censuses report she was born in Georgia. She the age in 1880 appears to
be an error, and all other factors match with Lydia known from other records.

-- Bobbi Foster, Geneanet Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 12 June 2019

Note that neither the 1880 census nor the 1900 census reports a child named
Jesse. Bobbi comments that she has been unsuccessful in finding a record that
specifically conrfirms that Jessie Barta Green is the son of John Thoma Green.
Jessie was born in 1875, so should have been about 5 years old in 1880. The
five-year-old reported in John T Green's household in 1880 was reported as
James A Green.

John T Green dies at Nectar

We regret to learn of the death of John T Green, the venerable father of our
townsman, James E Green. Mr Green's death occured at his home in Nectar
Friday [11 May 1915]. He had been in ill health for several months and went to
Birmingham some months ago where he was operated on for gall stones. This
gave him some relief for a time but he could not regain his strength and death
resulted. Mr Green was about 71 years of age and was one of Blount's most
substantial and influential citizens. He was a member of the congregational
Methodist Church and the Masonic fraternity and stood high in both these
institutions. He is survived by his widow and several children.

There are two additional children that records report as children of John T
and Mary Rebecca. Annice Elnora Green Cox's Alabama death record reports her
parents as John Thomas and Rebeca, with her mother's name being in the form of
a nickname as Becky Standridge, as linked below to Annice's FAG memorial. in
the 1900 census a son named Robert E Green was reported as the oldest child.

John T's memorial on Find a Grave reports he died in Bangor, while his
military records and his obituary report the place of death as Nectar, the
town where he is buried. Bangor is an unincorporated palce, but it is listed
in the database of Alabama towns.

-------------------
Bangor, also known as Coopers Gap, Copperas Gap, or Coppers Gap, is an
unincorporated community in Blount County, Alabama. Nearby Bangor Cave housed
a speakeasy during Prohibition and continues to be a popular attraction for
area spelunkers.[2]

The community lies east of Interstate 65 and about 30 miles north of
Birmingham.

Bangor is located near the former resort community of Blount Springs. In 1937,
the landowner of Bangor Cave, J. Breck Musgrove, convinced investors to
provide funds for the construction of a nightclub in the cave. The cave soon
included a bar, electric lighting, a bandstand, and a lounge for women. A
locked room contained slot machines, roulette wheels, and card tables. A spur
track of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad could drop visitors off at the
entrance to the cave. The caveowners faced legal battles with Alabama governor
Bibb Graves, and the Bangor Cafe Club was permanently closed in January 1939.

Descendents Of Joseph Green

Joseph and his wife Sarah came to Tennessee from North Carolina between 1820
and 1840 with their two sons Shadrack and James Mooney Green. Shadrack
settled in Warren County, and James (Jimmy) settled near the Warren and DeKalb
Count line, possibly living in DeKalb County. Shadrack was a preacher for the
Old Baptist (hardshell) at Concord Church in Warren County for several years.
He preached the Resurrection so strong, he was dismissed. He then went to the
Primitive Baptist at Bildad in DeKalb County about two year before his death.
He raised a large family.

Joseph Green was born 1797 and died after 11/8/1881, buried Concord,
Tennessee. Sarah Green was born 1797 and died July, 31. 1863, burial place
unknown. Sarah's name might have been Mooney as there was a Mooney in the
family somewhere and James' middle name is Mooney.

Shadrack Green was born May 12, 1820, and died 11/8/1881. He is burried in
Green Cemetery.

James (Jimmy) Mooney Green was born 3/2/1822 and died April of 1900. He is
buried in Potter Cemetery.

There are other details in this written history, including personal
information, and many descendents.
