Notes for Joseph GREEN

One of Joseph's descendants, David Howell Green (1824-1863) is reported in
Family Tree DNA in the same Y-DNA12 marker group as Meshack W Green
(1720-1799). These are listed in the Family Tree Geen-Greene DNA Project
under R1b1a2a1a1b3c, as relatives of Thomas F and Winifred (Seybourne) Green,
St Marys, Maryland.
-- Family Tree DNA ,
https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Green/default.aspx?section=ycolorized

The parents of Joseph Green have not been confirmed. The parents of Meshack W
Green, likewise, have not been discovered. Thus their connection to Thomas F
Green is not known. Another member of this kinship group, named Thomas Norton
Green, born about 1500, shares the R-L2 haplogroup of DNA with Meshack W Green
in this same Y-DNA12 kinship group.

These two are the only ones of this haplogroup who are reported in this list
of relatives of Thomas F and Winifred (Seybourne) Green. David Howell Green
has a different haplogroup, R-M269.

Notes for Joseph G GREEN

Joseph died before the 1880 census, when we find Sarah Green as the head of the
household, with only some of her children. The household includes her married
daughter Patience J and her husband George G McSwain, listed as part of the
same family.

Additionally, as a separate family in the same household is James Green, whom
I would expect to be also a child of Sarah and Joseph. But I do not have
earlier information on a son named James, who at age 26 in this census, should
have been born in about 1854, two years before Patience. In the 1860 census,
when Patience appears as the oldest child at age 4 (born abt 1856).

An entry in the 1940 census might be for our Julius, with a wife enumerated as
Cliffie M, and their daughter Loreece in Washington, Oklahoma. Julius is
reported born in Arkansas, while previous information indicated that Julius
was born in Oklahoma. Julius' middle initial in 1940 is L, while it was H in
1930. Names varied a lot in this Green family.

Also in 1910, Julius and his father were reported as Indian, but here Julius
is reported as White. This happened generally with all the family. They
gradually "became" White.

A later record indicates that Julius moved to Oreghon. A death record reprots
a Julius H Green born 19 August 1913, matching other age records for Julius.
This Julius was living in Medford, Oregon. He died 1 January 1976 in Klamath
County, probably in the county seat of Klamath Falls.

The Social Security record matching this entry has no middle initial, but
indicates that Julius' SS Number was issued in Oklahoma.

This middle initial H, matching the name in the 1930 census, and Lukius L,
from the 1940 census and the city directory, might indicate that Julius had
two middle names.

All of these records are consistent with other information about Julius Green,

middle initial in these different records, this may still represent two
separate individuals.

Notes for Lavina GREEN

Dates are uncertain for many events in this lineage in this era. It seems that
Shadrack Green's first wife Mary Cage died around 1801 or 1802. The gap
between the birth of Anselom Green in 1801 and Lavina Green in 1803 is one
indicator of the death of Mary and Shadrack's remarriage to Martha Jones.

Leland Lafayette's second name was pronounced La-Fate. He went by Fait, and
this is the name by which I have heard our Green family refer to him. There
were other people named Fait Green in Oklahoma, unrelated to this family of
Greens. Fait's gravestone has his name simply as Fait Green.

Note that Fayette (Fait) is reported born in Oklahoma. In 1940 Fait is
reported born in Texas, which appears to be an error, nbased on family
knowledge and the 1930 census. I have not found the family in 1920. But I
note his parents were reported in the 1910 census as living in Marlow,
Oklahoma, where they lived out their lives.

When Fait was in school they lived a few miles from the town of Marlow.
Faith's second cousin Loretta Gregory Gay reports that Fait told her that when
he was in school, he used to ride a horse from the St York Indian Baptist
Church east of town to school in Marlow. Loretta says she and her family used
to go with Dave and Fannie to gospel singings at that church.

Leroy appears in the 1850 census with the name Leroy McCuthchin, making it
appear his surname is McCutchin. If the genealogy above is correct, the
enumerator must have meant that this 2-year-old child was Leroy McCutchin
Green. It is also curious that this child's name was fully written out, while
all the others were listed by only initials. And he does appear as L M Green
in the 1860 census. His later marriage record has the name Leroy T M Green.
