My research correlates this George's father with George Washington Gregory, as reported by Carolyn Cooper, and his mother with George Washington Gregory's second wife Susannah Few. It also seems to fit that George Washington Gregory is Richard Gregory's father, but Steve Squier has confirmed no parents for Richard Gregory. He has some doubts about the connection of Richard and George Washington Gregory. -- Steve Squier, RootsWeb, http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=sasquier&id=I128765&style=TABLE Note, however, that Washingtons and Gregorys are kin; George Washington's aunt married a Gregory, then together with her husband, deeded Mt Vernon plantation to the Washington family, and George, later President, inherited it. There is a paucity of records for George Washington Gregory, and the identity of George's putative wife Susannah Few is even less documented. The records available seem to indicate that George is the son of George Washington Gregory and the brother of Richard Gregory. There are other siblings to be confirmed as research continues. The tax rolls and related census records seem, at any rate, to indicate all these Gregorys of Jefferson County and Cherokee County, Alabama, are closely related in the same lineage.
