It appears that W D and Tennie got divorced before the 1900 census. In the
1920 cneuss, she appears in her parents' home with no children, under her
maiden name, reported as Single, not divorced or widowed. But she married
Rube Shadwick in 1923. A second marriage record is found matching W D

Notes for Lizzie GRIFFITH

She is listed in the 1930 census of Parker County, Texas, lists her as Lizzie
Jackson. Since Lizzie is one nickname for Elizabeth, I have listed her here
under the full name. Various family sources know her as Lizzie. Even her
death certificate has her name as Lizzie Jackson. The informant for the
information on her death certificate was her son Jimmy.

One anonymous genealogy comments that "Lizzie was Jim's third wife." I have
been able to find no information on another wife, other than Lizzie Griffith
and Elizabeth Tate.

One genealogy constructed by a Jackson descendant reports the name of Lizzie
Griffith as Lizzie Campbell. [Personal communication from James Jackson to
Marion Mixon, April 2010] Perhaps the first wife, before, Eliza Jane Tate,
was named Campbell and this name became confused with Lizzie Griffith's in
that family's oral tradition. The name and details about Lizzie Griffith are
well documented in the research I have done in cooperation with several
Jackson cousins since 2007.

Her Death Certificate, which I finally obtained in June 2010, clarifies her
parents' names, as well as confirming many other details.

The name of the first Ruffin child looks like Mimie, which we might take to be
Mimi. The 1900 census, however, which I found considerably later, reports her
name as Minnie. The mother of both Mimie (Minnie) and Eason Ruffin was born
in Alabama, matching Roxie's birth state. It looks like they would be her
children from her first marriage.

With Mimie (Minnie) age 11 here, Roxie would have been about 15 when Mimi was
born and thus married at about 14. Roxie Ruffin's entry in the 1900 census
indeed reports her as 17 years old, and married for 3 years, with her daughter
Minnie aged 2.

It appears George and Roxie were married soon after Eason's birth, or perhaps
even before. These two Ruffin children are reported as the children of
George, not his step-children.
