Notes for Mary Ann HALLMARK

Mary was named as a survivor of her husband George Alford Green in 1889, in his
probate papers. They had been married only about a year. They had had one
child, Grover Cleveland born in August 1888. One other survivor was
mentioned, a daughter Essey, age 6, who would have been a daughter of George's
first wife Rebecca Ingram. No other surviving children were mentioned as
heirs.

Notes for Arlo D HALVORSON

Several genealogies report that Arlo Halvorson was born in Armenia. This was
puzzling, since Halvorson is obviously a Norse name. When I found the 1930
census, I was able to confirm this was just a silly error. The census reports
he was born in Iowa. His father's birthplace is reprotred Unknown, but his
mother was born in Norway, as expected.

Arlo and his family have not been found in the 1940 census. Later after has
was married, Arlo appeared in the Mason City City Directory in several
editions up to 1960. In all these directories, his wife is reported as Evelyn

From the dates of name changes on her Social Security record, it appears that
Joan and Arlo divorced around 1954, since she was married and changed her name
in 1955 to Pieren. This indicates she had also been married previously to a
Scott in October 1949. Interestingly, there is no change reported back to

M.S. HAMILTON #1 OF 2
We are sorry to learn that Rev. M.S. Hamilton one of our oldest and best known
citizens died yesterday at his home at Locust Cottage. He will be buried today
at 1 p.m. at Moore's Church.

CLEVELAND COUNTY HERALD - Nov. 23, 1905
HAMILTON #2 OF 2
Rev. M.A. [M S] Hamilton, a well known local preacher, died at his home near
Locust Cottage, Wednesday evening the 15th inst [15 Nov 1905].

He was born in the state of Georgia, Nov. 29th, 1831 falling short of living
74 years only 5 days. He moved to Arkansas in 1859 and has lived here since
except a few years spent in Howard county, this state.

Brother Hamilton was brought up by pious parents and from his early youth till
his death lived a devoted Christian. He was a man of positive convictions and
lived up to what he believed the Bible taught.

He became convinced about the year 62 or 63 that it was his duty to preach the
Gospel and from that time till his death it was his joy to tell this good news
to others. Many can testify how anxious he was to serve his Lord in the best
way he could.

Brother Hamilton leaves one sister, four sons and two daughters who are
bereft, but in their sorrow they believe they shall meet in the abode of the
blest.
