Mary was named as a survivor of her husband George Alford Green in 1889, in his probate papers. They had been married only about a year. They had had one child, Grover Cleveland born in August 1888. Several genealogies report that Arlo Halvorson was born in Armenia. This was puzzling, since Halvorson is obviously a Norse name. When I found the 1930 census, I was able to confirm this was just a silly error. The census reports he was born in Iowa. His father's birthplace is reprotred Unknown, but his mother was born in Norway, as expected. 1930 Federal Census, Worth County, Iowa, 3 April, Fertile Township, District 98-10 Page 1B, Hse/Fam #13 Halvorson, Ernest Head Rents $8 M W 24 First Married at age 21 IA Unknown Norway Tenant Farmer [b abt 1906] Halvorson, Ida Wife F W 25 First Married at age 22 IA Denmark Michigan [b abt 1905] Halvorson, Arlo Son M W 2yrs2mos IA IA IA [b abt Jan 1928] Halvorson, Dorothy Dau F W 3mos IA IA IA [b abt Dec 1929] Arlo and his family have not been found in the 1940 census. M.A. [M S] Hamilton, a well known local preacher, died at his home near Locust Cottage, Wednesday evening the 15th inst [15 Nov 1905]. He was born in the state of Georgia, Nov. 29th, 1831 falling short of living 74 years only 5 days. He moved to Arkansas in 1859 and has lived here since except a few years spent in Howard county, this state. Brother Hamilton was brought up by pious parents and from his early youth till his death lived a devoted Christian. He was a man of positive convictions and lived up to what he believed the Bible taught. He became convinced about the year 62 or 63 that it was his duty to preach the Gospel and from that time till his death it was his joy to tell this good news to others. Many can testify how anxious he was to serve his Lord in the best way he could.
