Nora married Oliver Chapel about 1906. The location is uncertain. The 1900 census reported Oliver living in his mother's home in Parker County, Texas, west of Fort Worth. They were originally from Cass County, Texas, bordering Louisiana, not far from Texarkana. In the 1910 census, Nora was reported born in Louisiana, but later censuses re[port her born in Texas, and her death certificate says she was born in Cass County, Texas. This suggests that Oliver and Nora met in Cass County, but they were not married before Oliver's mother moved them to Parker County. In 1910, Nora and Oliver is married are in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. His mother is now living in their household. 1910 Federal Census, Choctaw County, Oklahoma, 3 May, Wilson Township, District 69, page 7B, Hse #125, Fam #136 Chapel, Oliver Head M W 27 Married 4 yrs TX TX TX Farmer Rents Chapel, Nora Wife F W 21 Married 4 yrs 2 children/2 living LA TX TX Chapel, Roy Son M W 3 Single TX TX LA Chapel, Ruby K Dau F W 11mos Single OK TX LA Chapel, Rebecca Mother F W 52 Widowed TX TX GA 1920 Federal Census, Cass County, Texas, 20 January, Justice Precinct 3, District 37, page 7B, Marietta and Bryans Mill Rd, Hse #118, Fam #122 Chappel, Oliver Head Rents M W 37 TX TX TX Farmer Chappel, Nora Wife F W 31 TX TX TX Chappel, Roy Son M W 13 Single TX TX TX Chappel, Ruby K Dau F W 10 OK TX TX Chappel, Flosy Dau F W 7 OK TX TX Chappel, Frank Son M W 4 Single OK TX TX Chappel, Coy Son M W 1 Single TX TX TX Chappel, Rebecca Mother F W 63 Widow TX AL IL For some reason, Nora did not appear in the family's listing in the 1930 census. In 1930 he was reported as Divorced. This may mean they had separated before the 1920 census but the actual divorce came later. But it may just be one of those common status errors we find for divorced couples. Following up on Myrtle was a bit puzzling. There is a 1920 record also in Falls County for another Thelma Christian born about the same time as Myrtle's daughter. But her parents are George W and Stella Christian. I cannot place them with our Christian clan. From the entry in the 1920 census, I was able to find George and Stella in the 1910 census, where he is reported as Willis, correlating with his middle initial in 1920. They were enumerated in Justice Precinct 7, while Howard and Myrtle were enumerated in JP 1. They both had a daughter names Thelma. Her birth record in Milam County, Texas, tells us that George and Stella's daughter was named Thelma Faye Christian. She was originally called Nannie, but in 1970, her mother Della (Lucas by this time) filed for an amendment to register the name as Thelma Faye Chrtisitan. --------------------- Patience Hannah Bird Patience Hannah Bird was the daughter of Jonathan Bird and Marie Blanche Hebert (pronounced abair). Marie Blanche was born an Hebert in Acadia and was deported by the British along with her husband John Cellier in 1755. They were sent by ship to Philadelphia where they detained aboard ship for a time. John Cellier died a couple of years after that and Marie Blanche Hebert eventually married Jonathan Bird. Marie Blanche and Cellier are well documented in Acadian lineage and Marie Blanche Hebert traces back to the original settlers of Acadia. Any questions you may have about this can be followed up on the Acadian genealogy group on Facebook. I have absolutely no info on Jonathan Bird past the fact that he married Marie Blanche. -- Butch Burel, Find a Grave Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins 16 April 2016 ---------------------
