Notes for John N HUSER

The name Huser is pronounced as Hoosier (WHO-zher), like the nickname for
Indiana.

I have found what appears to be the right John Huser in Germany, but lack
information on his family. His family was living in the District (Ritteramt)
of Gnoien, in the State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, which was formerly a
Grand Duchy. Because of sourcing access problems, I do not have the total
details. His name there in German is, as we would expect, Johann Huser.

In 1910, John is in Stuttgart, the northern county seat of Arkansas County,
Arkansas. He is a single man boarding with several others. John is working
as a laborer.

District 24, page 8A, Hse #147, Fam #148
Huser, John Boarder M W 22 Single LA Germany Germany

Note that this census reports him as born in Louisiana, and both his parents
born in Germany. However, his WWI Draft registration and report that John
himself was born in n Germany, and specifically that he is a naturalized
citizen. This reference to Louisiana probably tells us the port through which
the family entered the US, New Orleans.

In 1917, John was married and living in Ethel, Prairie Township, Arkansas
County, Arkansas. His WWI Draft Registration gives us the following
information:

John Huser
Born 16 June 1888 Germany

Note that the census reports that John married at age 22. This is the age he
reported in the 1910 census. This means that he and Lillie married after
April 1910.

In the 1940s, John and Lillie were living in Humphrey. Humphrey is partly in
Arkansas County, and partly in Jefferson County, Arkansas. The WWI Draft
Registration for John does not have a date, but his age is given as 53, which
would make this 1941 or 1942. Others I have seen with dates have 1942.

Registration 27 April 1942 in DeWitt, Arkansas, Arkansas

Notice that he now reports his place of birth as Holland, a safer bet in 1942,
when Germany was the enemy of the allies, and Holland was one of the
territories overerun by Germany, later to be liberated by the allies. I see
Lillie's name is spelled Lilly here.

I found his death date, but no location, in the Social Security Death Index:

Notes for Anna B HYATT

Several genealogies report that Anna B Hyatt was born in Green County, Indiana.
One reports the county as Bartholomew County (Columbus area). But none give
any documentation source for their information.

Another genealogy does place Anna and Moses in north Texas, reporting that
Anna died at Denton a bit south of Gainesville.

In 1860, Moses and Anna were in Gainesville, Texas, close to the Red River
south of Chickasaw Nation. Living in their house, but enumerated as a
separate household, was another Jackson couple, Abraham and Talitha (Delitha)
Jackson. In Abe and Talitha's household was also one James Jackson, whose
relationship to Abraham we also are unsure of, but likely a brother, from
their ages. Their parents have not been found.

Moses was born in Illinois and Abraham was born in Alabama, so they may be
cousins. It is possible they are brothers, but less likely. But the way
families migrated west the midwest was one route even for families from
Tennessee-Georgia-Alabama. Note also that the 1870 census shows a connection
with Missouri also, where their son James was born, between two who were born
in Texas.

In the 1870 census, Anna is the head of the household, so it appears that
Moses died before that census. He seems to have passed away about 1867 or
later, since their last child, daughter Rosetta, was reported as 3 years old.
Rosetta's name is spelled on her gravestone as Rosa Etta. Note that the child
Rhoda, 6 months old in July 1860, does not appear in the 1870 census. The age
of Mary E indicates she was born about 1861. No death or burial information
has been found for Rhoda.

Notes for Lillie May ICE

Lillie May's birth record reports her birth as 23 September 1886 in Spencer
County, Indiana. The 1910 census in Warrick County, Indiana, recorded in
April before her November marriage, which reported her as age 23, matching
birth in 1886. This also matches the census of 1900, which gives the birth
date as September 1886.

On the marriage license, however, her age is given as 26, which is 3 years
greater than her reported age 7 months earlier. Her age was either
mis-transcribed, she gave the wrong age, or for some other reason the wrong
age was written down by a clerk.

Notes for Oliver INGHAM

Most genealogies have no death date for Oliver Ingham. The genealogy Some
Southern Roots has the year 1344, the same as reported by the Deskins Family
Tree. This is also the same year of death given for Elizabeth by the Deskins
tree.

The latter also says Elizabeth died in Spain, which gives some sense of
credibility to the overall report. Southern Roots gives no death date for
Elizabeth. Only a few genealogies have the name of Elizabeth's parents. Her
mother's maiden name appears in several family lines, in various spellings,
such as Cantilupe and Cauntelo.

Notes for James Madison INGRAM

Family sources as gathered by Loretta Gregory Gay knew the surname spelled as
Inghram. But all the records and other sources have the spelling Ingram.

James Madison Ingram
Birth 16 AUG 1864 in Macon, Georgia
Death 20 APR 1954 in Ada, Oklahoma
Parents:
Hezekiah Ingram 1822-1894
Deltha Sarah Tarbutton 1825-1881
Spouse Alphareta Tatum
Birth 20 APR, 1866 in Georgia
Death 13 MAR 1942 in Ada, Oklahoma
-- Yerks-Young,
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/14466592/person/111169050?ssrc=&ftm=1

This genealogy and others follow the spelling of the censuses. I received the
name from the Green family as Inghram. This genealogy reports that James
Madison Ingram did not die until 1954, yet his wife Alpharetta is reported as
a widow in the 1930 census, when she is living in Colton City, California,
with her sister Miranda and her husband J N Thompson. Genealogies report that
Alpharetta died in 1942. She was buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, Pontotoc
County, Oklahoma.

The birth date of 16 August 1864 reported in the above genealogy is close to
the the birth date in the 1900 census, Aug 1864, and his age there of 35.
That census says they have been married 17 years, which means they were
married about 1883.

----------------------
There is a J M Ingram buried in the Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma, where
Alpharetta is buried, but his birth year is off by several years for her
husband, and this J M Ingram did not die till 1954. This one was married to
Mary E Ingram. Alpharetta 's husband died before 1930, according to the 1930
census, when she reported she was a widow. No death or burial information has
been found for Alpharetta's husband.
