In 1930, Jeff's father had died, and his widowed mother is head of the
household, but it appears 17-year-old Jeff is running the farm. The eumerator
first wrote Jeff as the Head of the house, with Mary as his mother, and the
others as his brother, his sister and his grandmother. Later he corrected
that to show Mary as Head of the household and Jeff as Son, but left the
others the same! They are living next door to Jeff's brother William F
Jackson.

Notes for Jewel JACKSON

There are two graves of infant children of Jim Jackson and his wife Eliza Tate
Jackson in the Curtis Cemetery in Weatherford, one boy and one girl. The girl
is Jewel. Jackson Eliza Jane Tate 10 24 1873 11 ? 1908 Jackson inf 1907

-- Curtis Cemetery list, http://www.graveinfo.net/Curtis_FJ_pctx.htm

Both the infants' graves are unnamed, having only the designatoin Baby Jackson
on each. But the Parker County death register identifies the girl as Jewel,
dying on 27 December 1908 at the age of 8 months. Wanda Tate Cox and her
cousin Teresa Tate Smith found a record of death for Jewel on the next line
after Eliza's record in the county death register.

Eliza's death record reports she died on 4 November 1908. Both she and her
8-month-old daughter died of consumption (tuberculosis).

Oklahoma, where several members of this Jackson family are buried.

Notes for Joan Ruby JACKSON

Joan's brother James reports her birth and death dates, but this is the birth
date for their sister Joy Ann in her Parker County birth record.

JOAN RUBY JACKSON (GRAY/CLARK) 03-05-1933 WEA. TX. 01-16-1998 DALLAS, TX
-- James Edward Jackson, email to Marion Mixon, 9 April 2010

Here is the Texas Birth Index for the child reported as Joy Ann, born in
Parker County, reporting the same birth date as that for Joan reported on her
gravestone.

Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997
Joy Ann Jackson
Birth 5 Mar 1933 Parker County
Father's Name George Jackson
Mother's Name Adie Miller

When I found the 1940 census for this famliy, the matter became clearer. The
nlly child matching the age and similar name for either Joan Ruby or Joy Ann
was Jo Ann, age 7. There was only one child age 7, indicating that Joan and
Jo Ann were ther same person. From the name given by her brother, Joan Ruby,
we may understand that the name Joan was not pronounced Jone, as we would
sxpect, but Jo Ann, as we find in the 1940 census. The birth record was just
incorrect on the first name as Joy instead of Jo.

In May 2010, I got an email from a cemetery historian, with further
information on this family. Edd Painter is the cemetery historian for Copper
Canyon (Denton County) Cemetery. He also reports the birth date of Joan Ruby
to be 5 March 1933, the same date of birth the Texas Birth records report for
her sister, Joy Ann Jackson.

"George Jerome Jackson was married to Addie Katherine Miller and they had [a]
daughter, Joan Ruby who married James Junior Clark. Both Joan and James are
interred in the Chinn's Chapel Cemetery, Copper Canyon, Texas. I am the
historian for the cemetery...."
-- Edd Painter, email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 25 May 2010

With the cemetery name from Edd, I was able to locate the cemetery registry
online. The date on the gravestone is the same as the birth date reported for
Joy Ann in the Texas Birth Index.

Clark, Joan Ruby
Maiden Name Jackson
E3-10 II FD
b: 3/5/1933 d: 1/16/1998
Place of birth Texas. Daughter of George Jackson (unknown) and Addie
Katherine (Miller) Jackson (unknown). Wife of James Junior Clark (7/23/1925,
Arkansas - 11/27/?, interred Chinn's Chapel Cemetery) married 2/19/1968
-- Chinn's Chapel Cemetery (Denton County, Texas) List,
http://www.cemeteries-of-tx.com/etx/denton/cemetery/ChinnchapelA-J.htm

Joan's marriage certificate, which my cousin and coresearcher Marion Mixon
found, reports Joan's estimated birth year from her age as 1934. This seems
to confirm the 1933 date of birth. This seems most likely, and is the
simplest way to account for the two separate reports for the girls born on the
same date.

Texas Marriage Index, 1966-2002
James Junior Clark
Marriage 17 Feb 1968 Denton County, Texas
Age 42, Estimated birth year abt 1926
Spouse Joan Ruby Jackson
Spouse Age 34, Est Birth Year abt 1934

Other details Edd Painter reports in followup email definitively confirms that
Joan was born in 1933. This includes information on Joan's first marriage and
a daughter born in 1952.

"I have found a record of the marriage of Joan Ruby to William Wesley Gray
which resulted in a daughter, Karen Ann, born on 9-12-1952; therefore, Joan
could not have been born in 1943 and had a child in 1952. Furthermore, there
is the record of Joan's marriage to James Clark in Denton County, Texas in
1968 which listed her age as ca 34; therefore this would put her date of birth
about 1934. This should explain that her correct date of birth is 1933. My
date of 3-5-1933 comes from the obituary that I received when I attended the
funeral for Joan and it matches the headstone for her. "
-- Edd Painter, email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 13 June 2010

Her Social Security Death Index record also confirms her birth date.

Notes for Joe Allen JACKSON

Texas Death Index, 1903-2000
Joe Jackson
Death 15 Nov 1988 Parker County

Jody's grave has his birth date as Dec 3, 1939, but he is not listed with the
family in the 1940 census, as he should be. This seems to indicate he was not
born until 1940. There are several cases of this kind of error, where in
later life a different year gets reported at some point. This seems to be
confirmed when we find a genealogy that does report his birth date as 3 Dec
1940. No documentation is provided, however.

All the other genealogies that have Jody, except one, also report his birth
year as 1940. Oddly, no record of birth has been found inthe Texas Birth
Index.

Notes for John Wesley JACKSON

John appears in several genealogies and records simply as John W Jackson. A
descendant has reported that John W's full name was John Wesley.

"Enoch is my great, great grandfather. Enoch & Mary's 2nd oldest son, John
Wesley Jackson (My father says that his granny (Vida Hembree) always told them
grandpa (John Wesley Jackson) was named after the outlaw John Wesley Harding),
was married to Vida Hembree."

John's parents are both reported as born in Mississippi, but the location and
other data appear to be John W, and the wife is correct for Emma Vida Hembree.

"John W Jackson ... is actually buried in Simon Cemetery in Love County Okla
which is not too far from Oswalt. He died 12-6-1936 and his wife Vida Emma
Hembree Jackson and a child who lived one day is also buried there."

I found John's gravestone posted by another researcher.

Notes for John William JACKSON

In the 1930 census, John had just had his 8th birthday. We know from family
sources that they were living at that time in Annetta, Parker County. It is
likely that John William was born intnhe county seat, Weatherford, but I have
not seen the documentation on that. The child corresponding to John William
is reported, however, with the initials J C.

1930 Federal Census, Parker County, Texas, 17 April, Justice Precinct 8,
District 184, page 7A, Hse/Fam #137

Jackson, Jimmie Son M W 16 TX OK AR Farm Laborer
Jackson, Pearl Dau F W 12 TX OK AR Farm Laborer
Jackson, J C Son M W 8 TX OK AR Farm Laborer

In a list of names by Carl Hess, in an email to Cynthia Mixon Beam, the child
matching this JC is John W. A Jackson genealogy provides his full name as
John William Jackson, and nickname Jack. This genealogy accords with the
burial information in Curtis Cemetery in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas,
for Jack and his wife Ruby Faye Stafford, also reported in the Jackson Tree
genealogy.

An undocumented genealogy has her name as Julia Eugenia, with the nickname
Genie. The genealogy cites the 1880 census for this family in Montgomery
County, Alabama. I found a memorial for Genie on Find a Grave, and was able
to connect her to her parents' memorials and also submitted additional details
which have now been added to the memorial as cited below.

Notes for Lee Woodrow JACKSON

In 1927, Lee's father died. At some point after the 1920 census, his
grandfather had also passed away, and his grandmother is in his mother's
household in 1930. The enumerator first wrote down relationships as though
Jeff was the Head of the household, but failed to correct the relationships
designation for any but their mother.

Lee Jr had a daughter named Carrie whom a cousin a coreseacher Kati Jackson

name on his Find a Grave memorial. His grave has only Lee W Jackson.

Yes, Carrie is Lee Jackson, Jr.'s daughter. I just became friends with her on
Facebook and just confirmed the relationship. Apparently, there is also a Lee
Jackson III, but from a different mother than the rest. I have not found out
enough about him to add him into my tree.
Thanks, Kati
