Note the conflict between this birth date of 9 July 1873 reported by Social
Security and the census report of 1880, which reported Thomas as only 4 years
old and his sister Mary as age 7.

The 1880 census above reports Lucinda as a Widow as does the 1900 censwus.
Yet there is a Fnd a Grave memorial that matches him, and is in fact attached
to his profile on some genealogies. But the date of death on that burial
marker is 1929, the year after Lucinda. So perhaps they divorced instead of
his dying before the 1880 census. Lucinda may have reproted herself Divorced,
because of the approbrium attached to divorce in that era.

Notes for Levi JINNINGS

The transcription of a marriage record in Independence County, Arkansas has his
name as Lin Jinings. The last name is usually written as Jennings or
Jinnings. In his Civil War service record the name is Levi Jennings.

Arkansas, County Marriages Index, 1837-1957
Syntha Gregory
Age 32 (Birth abt 1831)
Residence Independence County, Arkansas
Spouse's Name Levi Jinings [Jennings]
Spouse's Age 45 (Birth about 1818)
Spouse's Residence Independence County, Arkansas
Marriage 17 May 1863 Independence County
Ceremony by W J Clark, Justice of the Peace for Independence County
Filed 25 June 1863

Researcher R Dunlap points out that the name Lin is a misreading and
mistranscription of the original record, which is actually Levi.

"There is clearly a dot over the "i" in the first name. See "Arkansas, County
Marriages, 1837-1957," database with images, FamilySearch
(https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-12128-74742-3?cc=1417439 : 24

-- R Dunlap, Comment on this record transcription on Ancestry.com, on
9/14/2016, accessed 5 September 2017

A copy of the document indicates the correct name is Levi, as analyzed by
Dunlap. I find it interesting that Syntha's name is Syntha Gregory here, even
though she has been married and has gone by Syntha Perry since 1850. But the
age and location match Syntha (Cynthia) Gregory Perry.

The name Levi Jinnings matches other records, including a Civil War service
record, found on Fold 3 or Ancestry.com.

U.S., Confederate Soldiers Compiled Service Records, 1861-1865
Levi Jennings
Age 47, Birth Date abt 1817

Cyntha's first child of her next marriage, Allen Davis, was born about 1871.
So she must have married Jacob Davis soon after the 1870 census. No marriage
record has been found.

Francis Briscoe

I'm looking for information on Francis M Briscoe and came across the Source
Citation for the 1910 Federal Census, Tillman County, OK in your tree where
there's a transcript that states she was married to Edmond W Briscoe but says
he's her 2nd husband. I believe, from what I have heard, this is true.
Although I cannot find anything anywhere else to prove it. No prior marriage
license, newspaper articles, death certificate.

I heard from my mom, who would have been her granddaughter, that her first
husband was shot. Interesting, but I can't find anything on that and really
not much on her. I know that marriage produced a son, Herman, who went by
Briscoe (1881-1915). I have proof the last name was Johnson from a list of
deaths in my grandfather wrote in his Bible. My grandfather was James Lester
Briscoe (1892-1972) from her 2nd marriage.

Tragedy struck surely and quickly on Parmer County highways this week-end,
leaving a traffic toll of three dead, at least five injured, two automobiles
demolished, two trucks partially damaged, and nine children left fatherless.

Burl Harrison Beene, 29, Friona; A.D. Johnson, 24, Friona; and Carl Davis
Greeson, 39, Black; were killed Saturday night in a collision a few hundred
yards west of the Black elevators. Glen Mingus, passenger in the same
automobile, was hosptalized [sic], and his condition is said to be
satisfactory. Time of the collision was near 9 o'clock Saturday night.

Beene was driving eastward on Highway 60 in a new Mercury, with Johnson,
Greeson and Mingus as passengers. Highway patrolmen reported that the Beene
car evidently pulled out to pass a car driven by Ray Landrum and collided with
a truck driven by Marvin Valentine Crow of Clovis, who escaped injury.
Evidently seeing the imminent collision, Beene apparently headed for the north
barrow pit, the westbound truck striking the Mercury broadsided. Investigating
officers said that the car never overturned, though was as badly wrecked as
most overturned cars they have seen. All bodies were thrown clear of the car.

Sheriff Charles Lovelace was at the drive-in theatre in Friona when he
received the call via police radio from the highway patol [sic]. Picking up
Justice of the Peace Walter Loveless, they went to the scene immediately. Dr.
Smith, who accompanied the local ambulance, stated that Greeson wasn't dead at
the time he reached him, however he died en route to the Parmer County
hospital.
