I find Mary Ann and her children in the 1870 census after Reuben has died.
Several families of Loughridges and Keiths live near each other in Murray and
other Georgia counties in the mid-1880s. In 1870 Benjamin and Lucinda are in
Murray County, the 1013th Georgia Militia District, near Keiths and Terrys and
other related families. Mary Ann is a widowed head of household living 3
houses down from her parents.

Notes for Samuel Miller KEITH

In the 1880 census, Samuel M Keith is reported as 3 years old. This would mean
he was born in 1876 or 1877. One Keith genealogy reports his birthday as June
1877. Steve Miller reports it as the exact date of 12 Mar 1877. The 1900
census reports him born in January 1879, and his age is consistent with that
at 21. I will report the birth as the exact date given by Miller in his Keith
genealogy.

By 1900, Sam's father John had moved his family to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and
Sam is working as a Store Clerk.

Samuel and his new wife Launah Campbell are reported in the Charlotte, North
Caroilna, City Directory in several issues before 1910. The entry for Mary
Keith indicates she is the widow of Thomas Keith. The younger Margaret looks
like the cousin Maggie who was reported in John B and Mary Constance's
household in the 1900 census. But if so, she would be only about 15. I don't
know what the age threshhold would have been for listing in the directory.
But since she was working at a job, at whatever age, that may not be a
problem, factor. No ages are reported in these city directories.

Mammy lived on another 40 years after the death of Francis Marion. She became
the typical 'Granny' that everybody loved.

Their first child was William Benjamin Green (not showing on this record but
is in the system if you click on her spouce Francis Marion Green then you will
find him), 1869-1920 and his wife Mary Alice Hengricks Green.

In 1881 Mammy and Francis adopted their orphaned nephew Edmond Leroy Green

Wesley is reported here as the son of James, but Wesley's father is reported
born in Texas, while James is reported born in Oklahoma. There is a 20-year
difference in age between Wesley and the next child here, Jean (Gene). I
would not think they had the same mother. But Mary is reproted as only the
second wife. Since James and Mary have been married only about 5 years, Gene
and Joe would be the children of the 1st wife. Since Welsey's father is
reported born in Texas, he may be Wesley an adopted son of the first wife from
her first marriage.

We are told that James and Mary have been married 5 years. Letha is reported
as 5 years old, but the way they rounded numbers and were very inexact with
ages in those days, and with the gap in ages from the first two children,
Letha is likely the first child of this marriage.

A Social Security record reports a son named Jimmy Edward Tugmon that had not
been reported in other records. He was born in 1939, so should be in the 1940
census, but that census had not been found for this family when Jimmy's Social
Security Application record was found in March 2019.

"Quaid Family"

"Tax records for 1846 show that T W (Thomas Walter) Quaid was a resident of
New Salem in Rusk County. ... T W and his wife Emily Moore came from
Brownsville, Mississippi, Lafayette County. Upon arriving in Texas, they had
four children with them: Benjamin Walter, Elihu (Eli Hugh), William Riley and
Simpson. Emily's parents came with them.

"The movie actors, Randy and Dennis Quaid, are descended from Elihu's brother,
Benjamin Walter. The line runs: Benjamin Walter, John Thomas, William Jesse,
and their father William Rudy."
