But we shoudl note that the year of birth did not usually come from the enumerated themselves, but was usually worked out in an often erroneous fashion by the enumerator from the age. There again we find census ages notoriously varied and often unreliable in censuses. We also find that engraved dates on gravestones, often from incorrectly remembered or recorded family sources, are often also wrong. It is not uncommon to even find the date of death in error. We note these in this genealogy when we find them.
