Notes for Arthur Roy LONG

In 1900 the census records that Arthur was living in Point DeLuce in Arkansas
County. Ancestry.com says that the Longs were in DeWitt town in the Point
DeLuce Township. Nothing on the actual page shows they were in any town. The
line for a town name is empty on this page. Many Dumonds lived in this area,
although the family of Arthur's future wife, Lillie Dumond, were in Cleburne
County in 1900.

Arthur's WWI Draft Card tells us his birthday and other details. He is
living, or at least farming, at Gillette in southern Arkansas County. Since
he registered in Point DeLuce, maybe he was not living at the farm he was
working. Deluce is south of DeWtitt, northeast of Gillette and near LaGrue
where he is reported resident in the 1920 census.

In 1920 Arthur is still in the DeWitt area, but living in the LaGrue Township
of Arkansas County, east of DeWitt, toward Ethel. He and Lillie Dumond have
married and have one child Claud, who is 1 year old. I do not have definite
information on when Lillie's family moved to the Ethel-DeWitt area.

The 1900 census had reported Arthur's birthday as June 1891. This census
often had errors. I will follow the more reliable SSDI for Arthur's birth
date. His parents' marrige record also repots they married in September 1891.
