It appeared at first that this was the same William Long who was the son of Elizabeth Long Christian, but that turned out not to be the case. It appears that our William Long continued to live in Cass County. In 1910, he was enumerated in the home of his sister Lea Tate and her husband. Since William is in the Tate household, it appears that their mother died after the 1900 census and before the 1910. 1910 Federal Census, Cass County, Texas, 3 May, Precinct 6, District 36, Page 16A, Hse/Fam #289 Tate, John H Head M W 61 Marriage 1 Married 22 yrs AL AL AL Farm Laborer Owns Tate, Lea Wife F W 48 Marriage 1 Married 22 yrs 1 child/1 living Tex Ala SCar No Occupation Tate, Eva L Dau F W 18 Single Tex Ala Tex Long, William Brother-in-law M W 49 Single Tex Ala SCar Farmer In the 1920 census he is still single at age 59. His aunt Eliza Dickerson, also single, is living in his household. I have not figured out how she is his aunt. Since his mother was named Elizabeth, she is not likely William's mother's sister with the name Eliza (a nickname or short form of Elizabeth). She could be a wife or sister-in-law of a blood uncle. Eliza Dickerson is only 15 years older than William. There is a Dickerson family living next door. There is some indication that Elizabeth Long's maiden name was Dickerson. In fact one or two genealogies now report this. This makes sense with the configuration we know and the families around them in the censuses. 1920 Federal Census, Cass County, Texas, 15 January, Justice Precinct 6, District 31, page 6B, Douglasville & Naples Road, Hse #107, Fam #114 Christian, William S Head Rents M W 59 Single TX AL AL Farmer Dickerson, Eliza Aunt F W 85 Single AL NC NC Texas, Death Certificates, 1903-1982 William Seamore Long Birth 15 Mar 1861 Douglassville, Texas Residence Douglasville, Texas Farmer, Single Father and Mother name and place of birth unknown Age at Death 77 yrs, 9 months, 1 day Death 16 Dec 1938 Douglassville, Cass, Texas Cause of Death Acute Dysentary and Gastric Hemorrhage, with Chronic Myochorditis Informant H S Granberry, Douglassville, Cass, Texas Burial 16 Dec 1938 Douglassville, Cass, Texas [may be date of removal] by Morriss Bros, Douglassville Filed 30 December 1938, Filed State 3 January 1939

But Henry's father John died some time after 1877, when the last chld was born. This was Sarah, reported in the 1880 census as 3 years old. Lucretia moved before the 1880 census up north to Point DeLuce, near the White River, close to DeWitt.
