Notes for William M LOVIN

William's enumeration for the 1910 census in Hunt County, Texas, reports his
mother born in Virginia, rather than Mississippi, as reported for her in 1860.
The 1880 census for Martha Jane Lovin, in Lamar County, Texas, reports her as
born in Mississippi. Also his father, likewise reported as born in
Mississippi, is now reported as born in South Carolina.

He now has a different wife, but I do not have any details. His wife in 1910,
Maggie, was born in Texas of Texas parents.

Notes for Dorothy Elvagene LOWE

Dorothy was born and lived her whole life in Marlow, except for a period
attending Bray school. She always went by Dorothy. Her daughter Lou Ada
Green Horning tells us that her name was originally Dorothea, but the person
in the hospital who wrote out the birth certificate spelled the name as
Dorothy, and this became the official name, which the family then used.

I found it interesting that the enumerator wrote that the birth place of Edith
was Indian Territory, but she was born in 1907. That means she was born
before December 1907, when Indian Territory was merged with Oklahoma Territory
and other lands to become the new state of Oklahoma. This is also supported
by her age at the 1 January 1920 census.

Notes for George Washington LOWE

George was enumerated with his family in the 1860 census living in Seveier
County, arknasas. Reported ages of the children indicate that they married in
about 1855. The last perosn listed, Marcus, age 12, is probably a brother of
George, but might be a nephew.

1860 Federal Census, Sevier County, Arkansas, 14 July, Monroe Township, P O
Ullimathuli (?), p 60, Hse #458, Fam #433

Sarah A Lowe 4 F b Arkansas [b abt 1856]
Amanda Lowe 2 F b Arkansas [b abt 1858]
Marcus L Lowe 12 M b Tenn [b abt 1848]

They moved to the southeastern part of Arkansas after the census. George died
in Monroe County, Arkansas, in about 1868. In 1870, Mahala and her daughter
Sarah Ann are in neighboring Arkansas County, in the southeastern part of the
state, living with a family named Allman, close to the White River near St
Charles.

An index reports Geoger's name in the will book for Monroe County, with a page
number for its entry. No document for him was found on this page or indeed in
the entire book. A researcher has note dhis full name in the index
transcription for this record.

G W Lowe's will was not found in a search of this will record book for Monroe
County wills. First search was done on the page stated in the index, then
around that area, then cross-check by date. The last will of 1867 was in
November, and on the next page the only will for 1868 was in December. The
next is in October 1869. The nmext appera in 1871.

Then a page-by-page search was made through into 1878. No pre-printed
numbered pages are missing form the book. No will is included in this book
for G W Lowe. There appears to be some error in the microfiche relating the
index pages to the document pages.
