Sarah appears in the 1900 census as a widow with her children, including Albert, who is 20 years old. The date of 1895, then, must be the death of William. The date of the birth of their last child, William W, was about May 1896. This must mean that William died late in 1895, during Sarah's pregnancy with William W. It is not clear from the notation on the their joint grave marker whether the last date 1904 is meant to apply to both Sarah and Albert. I have not been able to find Sarah in any records after the 1900 census. I found the marriage record for Albert to Lida Cochran in 1904. By 1910, Lida has remarried. It appears that Albert died soon after their marriage. Thus I have taken the last date of 1904 as both Sarah's and Albert's death date of 1904. They may have died in an epidemic. In 1900 widow Sarah is running the farm. 1900 Federal Census, Arkansas County, Arkansas, 20 June, Prairie Township, District 7, page 15A, Hse #254, Fam #261 McSwain, Sarah Head W F Jan 1856 44 AR MS TN Farmer McSwain, Edna Dau W F Oct 1877 22 AR NC TN McSwain, Albert Son W M Nov 1879 20 AR NC TN Farm Laborer McSwain, George Son W M Aug 1884 15 AR NC TN McSwain, Belle Dau W F June 1889 11 AR NC TN McSwain, Bertha Dau W F June 1893 6 AR NC TN McSwain, William Son W M May 1896 4 AR NC TN Note that the father of the children is now said to have been born in Tennessee, not North Carolina. Fayette County, Pennsylvania Vital Records, 1750-1890 Lowry, James Jr. Birth 1738 Ballynagorry, Ireland Father's Name James Lowry, Sr Several genealogies report the birth year as 1733 instead of 1738. They also report him as James Lowry or James Lowery, Jr from Ballynagorry, Ireland. But they usually also report his father as Edmond Lowery. If he is James Jr, his father is not Edmond Lowery/Lowry. I have shown James Lowery as born in 1738, following the Fayette County, Pennsylvania record that so many attach to his profile, with his father also named James Lowry/Lowery, to match his designation as Junior. Further information may enable me to confirm the parental connection or separate two people named James Lowery. The likelihood that there are two different family lines combined here seems supported by the presence of a tax record for a James Lowery Sr near James Lowery Jr in Franklin County, Georgie in 1807. This indicates James Sr and James Jr as father and son in Franklin County. The James whose father was Edmond may be in another county of Georgia (he died in Jasper County), and the record of birth in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, may not be for the James Lowry who married Polly Ann Wilkie. Some genealogies report that Meshack Lowery was born in Northern Ireland. But siblings born before him and after him were born in the Carolinas. It is conceivable his mother was back in Ireland at the time of his birth. But it seems likely that this report confuses two different individuals named Meshack Lowery. Some genealogies also report that his mother Polly Wilkie Lowery died in Ireland. If so, she was back in the home country for some reason at the time of her death. I have seen no evidence of either Meshack's birth or Polly's death in Ireland. Only entries in undocumented genealogies that are also questionable on other grounds. ---------------------------------------- Meshach Lowery's Will Jasper Co, GA, Will Bk 14, p. 25 Will of Meshach Lowery 12 Oct 1848 I, Meshach Lowery, state of Georgia, County of Jasper, being sick and feeble, etc. Item 1.
