She is buried in a joint grave with her second husband, Clyde Wilbanks. It
was put up before he died, and his date of death is not on the stone. But the
photo was taken in 2008, and Clyde died in 1978. So was he actually buried
somewhere else?

The child named Allie here is identified in the Carter genealogy as son Ted
Allie. This is also the name given to me also by Buck Linsten Lynch.

-------------------
John H. Lynch grew up in city of Blooming Grove, Navarro Co., Tx. and he
married to Sallie L. Watson in Barry, Tx. close to Corsicana. His brothers
and sisters were all born in Blooming Grove. John, Sallie and their children
moved to Oklahoma in 1905. Worked farming and then they owned a cafe business
in Carnegie 1918. When he retired they sold business in 1943.

Their children are

2. Ruby Gaskin Lynch m. Frank R. Mock - 10 children...not sure

I don't know Eyline's 2nd husband's name or Bud Jenkins' family genealogy. I
remember my older brother and I met some of John Lynch's children's people
last time in 1956. John's brother is my father Arthur born 1885 and I was
born 1944.

In 1930, we find Allie married and in his own household. Here his wife is
enumerated as Flo Rene (Florene). Allie's cousin Buck Linsten Lynch tells me
her name was Florence Greenshaw.

In the 1930 census, Allie is reported as Ted. His wife's name looks like
Florene (Flo Rene). The reported birth state of Allie's mother changes from
Georgia to Texas.

In 1940, the name looks like Florene, but the ending E is closed, and Ancestry
transcribes it as Florenc. Buck Linsten Lynch reports her name as Florence in
his list above. But on her grave it is FloRene, as in the censuses. Note the
Capital R in the middle of the name on the gravestone.

Notes for Arthur LYNCH

Arthur's son Buck Linsten Lynch contacted me on email in January 2008 after
finding my genealogy with some basic entries on the Lynch family. Eyline D
Lynch, daughter of John and Sarah (Sallie) Watson Lynch, was my aunt, married
to Arthur Carthal (Bud ) Jenkins, my uncle. Eyline was Arthur Lynch's niece.

Buck tells me that his father Arthur was born on 14 December 1885. Arthur had
polio as a child, and had no use of his legs or left arm.

In the 1900 census we find Arthur living with his widowed father Grief Linsten
in Navarro County, Texas. Hall family information, conveyed to me by Buck
Lynch, says Mary died in 1888.

1900 Federal Census, Navarro County, Texas, 20 June, Precinct 3, District 103,

In 1910, Arthur is still single, but is living with his sister Bertha Holladay
and her family on their farm in Motley County, Texas.

By 1920, Arthur's father has also moved to Motley County, and he and
still-single Arthur are living together in Justice Precinct 2 of Motley
County. This is the same division of the county where he was living with his
sister's family in 1910.

Arthur worked with his father in their General Merchandise store in Whiteflat,
Motley County, Texas, from 1916 until his father died in 1936. Arthur
continued to tun the store till he retired in 1952. In the 1920 census we
find documentation of the store, where both Grief and Arthur are reported to
be grocery merchants. Arthur's son Buck says the name of their store was
Lynch and Sons General Merchandise.

1920 Federal Census, Motley County, Texas, 3 February, Precinct 2, District
185, Page 1A, Hse/Fam #2
Lynch, Grief L Head M W 67 Widowed AL AL AL Merchant, Groceries
Lynch, Arther Son M W Single 33 TX AL TX Merchant, Groceries

With Arthur's actual birthday reported from family sources as 14 December
1885, his age in February 1920 should have been 34. This would also match the
1910 age of 24, and the 1900 age of 14.

By 1930, Arthur has married Lila (Lyla) Home Fisher. They have one 3-month
child, Robert R Lynch. Arthur's father Grief is living in Arthur's household
now, and is working as a salesman in the store, which Arthur is now running.
Living in their household is Thomas O Washburn, an employee in their store,
but the relationship is reported as Boarder.

1930 Federal Census, Motley County, Texas, 19 April, Precinct 2, District 3,

Arthur's age has jumped from 33 in 1920 to 47 in 1930. In April 1930, we
would expect his age to be 44.

Several genealogies report Arthur's death information as 27 Apr 1966 in Motley
County, Texas. But his son Buck tells me he died in a nursing home in Claude,
Armstrong County (southeast of Amarillo). Buck and his sisters grew up there
and were raised by a brother of their mother Lila Home Fisher Lynch and his
wife.

The Social Security Death Index also reports this information and the death
date there is 15 June 1966. The Arthur Lynch who died in April 1966 in Carson
County must be a different Arthur Lynch, with an uncannily similar set of
details.

Notes for Buck Linsten LYNCH

I met Buck in 2008 by email, when he contacted me about the Lynch lineage,
after finding my genealogy online. We had some very congenial exchanges, as
we discussed his family, and he shared details I had no precious access to.
With his recollections and some family sources providing important clues, I
probed other sources and we put together the Lynch lineage you see here. I
learned only in January 2014 that he had passed away in 2011.

This marriage record appears to be for Buck, though I was not aware that he
ever went by Rube, The details fit otherwise.

Obituary of Buck Lynch

------------------------------------

Buck Lynch
TEMPLE, TEXAS Buck Linsten Lynch, 66, passed away peacefully at his residence
on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, surrounded by family. Buck was born on October 14,
1944, to Arthur and Lila Lynch in Matador, and raised in Whiteflat, Texas.

Buck was known for his great sense of humor and he was always so full of life.
Being deaf didn't hold him back from anything. He enjoyed life with his many
deaf friends, and most of all with his family. Buck retired in 1997 after more
than 30 years of work as a printer. Growing up, Buck attended the Texas School
for the Deaf in Austin, where he learned the trade of printing.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by
his two sisters, Lola Allison and Martha Woodard of Amarillo; wife of 40 years
Frances Taylor-Lynch; step-daughter Betty Fernandini; daughters Lisa Godsil
and husband Kevin, and Molly Elliott; son Wayne Lynch and wife Pen, and six
grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m.8:00 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral
Home on Thursday, August 11, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 10:00
a.m. at Greathouse Cemetery.

I note that the obituary was published on 11 August 2011. It announces a
visitation that evening, then announces the graveside service at 10:00 AM
without a date. This is obviously the next morning, 12 August 2011.

Notes for Ethel L LYNCH

The 1900 census reports Ethel's birth date as February 1887. A genealogy of
the Lynch family reports her birth as 3 February 1888. With a February
birthday, and a census in June, her age is correctly reported as 12 in the
census. Her birth year then, should be 1888, not 1887 as reported in the
census.

Ethel married Andrew Watson, a first cousin of Sallie Watson, who married John
Lynch, Ethel's uncle. Buck Lynch reports that Ethel Lynch Watson moved to
Arizona because of tuberculosis. No further details on location or date and
place of death are available. Buck says that Andrew later lived with his son
in San Antonio, but we likewise lack his details.

In the 1940 census we finally find out what Eyline's other name was. The
family info I have seen has Eyline D, as well as City directories, although
the 1952 Chickasha Directory, which I found only in February 2014, has her as
Dorothy E. In the 1940 census she is enumerated as Dorothy I. This makes it
seem that her first name was Dorothy, not Eyline. In censuses, she is also
genearally Dorothy E. I never knew her to go by Dorothy, but these entries
seem to indicate that in this earlier time, she did.

The 1940 Oklahoma City directory gives us the name of the Dairy Bud worked
for. In this directory, In this directory she is listed as Dorothy E, as in
the censuses. But in later directories her name is Eyline or Eyline D.

After World War II started, both Bud and his younger brother Orville worked at
Tinker Field Air Force Base in Midwest City (Oklahoma City). Bud and Eyline
were living in the Oklahoma City area and Orville lived with them a while
during that wartime work in the City. Bud's son Michael Thomas was born in
Oklahoma City in 1943. They are reported in the Oklahoma City Directory in
1941 and later. In 1941 Bud is listed under his middle name Carthal.

In 1941 and following, during World War II, Bud and Eyline were still living
in Oklahoma City, where Bud was working at Tinker Field Air Base. Bud's son
Trent told me he remembered my father, Orville Lee Jenkins, living with them
during the war when Orville was also working at Tinker Field as a Radio Repair
technician.

After the war, Bud and Eyline moved back to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where their
daughter LaRhonda Eyline was born. In Chickasha Bud had a Maytag dealership
next door to the City Hall and Police Department. Bud shared the building
with his brother, my father Orville Lee Jenkins, who ran a radio sales and
repair business, until the early 1950s.

I found listings for them in the 1947 Chickasha City Directory.

Thus in 1956, Eyline is a widow, but by the publication of the 1957 city
directory, she is the wife of Wayne Wornom. So Eyline married her second
husband about 1956 or early 1957.

No other Jenkins family source has information for Eyline. Our family lost
track of her when she remarried and moved with her children and second husband
Wayne Wornom from Chickasha to Oklahoma City, where he was in business. For
some time before the move Wayne and Eyline ran the Jeep dealership Wayne owned
in Chickasha.

Buck Lynch, a cousin of Eyline, found my genealogy and contributed information
about the Lynch family. We worked over email to extend and clarify Lynch
family information, filling in gaps in what Buck had from family sources. In
May 2009, Eyline's oldest son Trent, my first cousin, contacted me. He
provided her place of birth, missing from other sources. Eyline was born in
Mt View, Washita County (now Kiowa County), Oklahoma.

The Carter genealogy cited above reports that Eyline died in December 1970,
but Trent reported to me that she died in 1974, of a stroke. But in May 2012
I found Wayne's obituary which reports the date of his marriage to Marita
Davis as December 1970. This agrees with the date of death of Eyline in the
Carter genealogy.

"My grandmother Eileen [Eyline] passed away when I was only a year or two old
I believe, so didn’t even get to know her very well. Wayne remarried a
lovely woman named Marita. So Wayne and Marita were the only grandparents
that I knew, and I never really got to know anyone else."
-- Terry Price, grandson of Eyline, son of LaRhonda Jenkins Wornom, email to
Orville Boyd Jenkins, 14 May 2012

Eyline's burial record was found online in 2017 by Julia Jenkins Willadson,

Eyline Dorothy Lynch Wornom

Eyline was one of 7 children of John H Lynch of Blooming Grove, Navarro Co,
TX. Eyline's mother was Sallie L Watson, who married John Lynch in Barry, TX,
near Corsicana.
John & Sallie moved their family to Oklahoma in 1905. Worked farming and then
they owned a cafe business in Carnegie 1918. When he retired they sold
business in 1943.

2008

Eyline first married Arthur Carthal "Bud" Jenkins, whom she met in Carnegie,
on 06 January 1935. They moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where they ran an
appliance business. Bud died of a heart condition on 19 October 1955.

"Our mom, Eyline, was born in Mt. View, OK, or so I always heard. And Bud was
born in Fort Cobb, OK. ... My granddad Lynch then moved to Carnegie, where mom
grew up and Dad met her. All these little towns are/were near one another, and

-- Trent Jenkins, email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 25 May 2009

After Bud's death, in about 1956, Eyline married widower Wayne Huntly Wornom.
They later moved to the Oklahoma City area, where they both died. They are
buried in Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Lincoln County.

I note here that the age for Grief in this census is way off. He should be
about 28, not 37-8. The age in 1900 fit the earlier information, and provide
the birth date of August 1851. Family sources, however, report his birthday
as 6 August 1852.

By the 1900 census, Mollie (Mary) has died. Grief, at age 48, is a widower
with two children in his household.

At some point Grief and Arthur moved to Malakoff, Henderson County, Texas.
Buck Lynch tells me they moved from Malakoff to Whiteflat, in Motley County,
Texas, in 1911. This is where they lived out the rest of their lives. Buck
reports that they owned Lynch and Son General Merchandise store from 1916 till
they retired. Their son Arthur retired in 1952 and the store was closed.

However, I found in the 1910 census that Arthur was already in Motley County,
rather than Navarro County, living with his married sister Bertha, married to
Columbus E Holladay. Their father Grief is not in this household. I have not
yet found Grief enumerated in the 1910 census.

On this page alone, there are three owners of grocery stores! Next door to
Arthur and Grief lives John D Williams, also reported as a Retail Grocery
Merchant.

Then about 6 houses away, another resident, Charles D Pool, is also listed as
a Retail Grocery Merchant. Charles also has at least one employee, who is
living next door to him, James P Smith, the last entry on this page of the
census.

The Texas Death Index reports that G L Lynch died 26 April 1936 in Motley

Notes for Guy Watson LYNCH

Records report that Guy was born in Texas. There are several Texas birth
records for several unnamed children ("Lynch, Infant of John") whose father
was John Lynch or John H Lynch in different Texas counties in 1903-1906. It
appears the family was living in Navarro County about the time of Guy's birth.
The only such entry like this for Navarro County was 31 Oct 1903. This is one
day and one year off from the date given in family sources. I have seen many
instances of one or more years differences between public and family records
or gravestone dates.

Notes for John Henry LYNCH

Genealogies of the Lynch family give the birth date of John H Lynch as 21
December 1874. This date is documented also by his WWI Draft Registration.
His death certificate also gives this as his birth date. His census age in
1920 matches this 1874 birth, but others indicate birth in 1876.

Some family sources indicate that John was born in Smith County, Texas. But
the place of birth on his death certificate is Tyler County, Texas. This
certificate, along with John and Sallie's obituaries, were sent to me by Buck
Lynch, their nephew. We had been working together trying to clarify the
details of this family.

Buck told me he had an old paper in family documents that reported that John
was born in Tyler, Texas. The town of Tyler is in Smith County. But perhaps
the note meant Tyler County, instead of Tyler town. Buck has spent some
considerable time and effort to discover missing details about the Lynch
family.

He reports on this matter:
"We did go Smith County court house and searched for his birth certificate,
but found nothing. I'm concerned that maybe he truly was born in Tyler County,
Tx. and not the city of Tyler, TX. My wife and I did go to Navarro County
clerk's office to look for his birth certificate without any luck. The lady
there told us that 3 record books are missing before the 1890s."

His obit does report he was born in Tyler County, Texas.

John's nephew Buck Linsten Lynch (son of John's brother Arthur) tells me that
John grew up in the city of Blooming Grove, Navarro County, Texas. The census
of 1880 reports him with his parents in Navarro County, but does not tell us
which location in the county.

In the 1880 census, we find John's wife-to-be Sarah (Sallie) L Watson with her
family in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in the Atlanta area.

From the age of their first child, this census indicates a marriage in about
1886. This is confirmed in the 1910 census, when we are told they have been
married 14 years. Family soruces and public records tell us they married 26
August 1894 in Barry, Navarro County, Texas.

John was unclear on the birth states of his parents, reporting Texas for his
father, while in 1920 he reported Georgia, which matches genealogy
information. He reports that he could not remember his mother's state of
birth.

The birth dates that are recorded in the 1900 census are always a real
excursion. Here John Henry's birth date is given as 1876. But as noted
above, his draft registration and genealogy give the date 21 December 1874.
Then again, the ages reported in the 1900 and 1910 censuses match the 1876
birth, while the 1920 census matches an 1874 birth.

By 1910 John and Sarah have moved to Oklahoma. They are in the Oakdale
Community, Washita County, where members of the Christian family in this
genealogy also have moved from Texas. Their grandson Buck Lynch tells me they
moved to Oklahoma in 1905. It was still Indian Territory then, two years
before the various Indian Nations and the small Oklahoma Territory combined to
become the next US state of Oklahoma in 1907.

The child named Allie here is identified in the Carter genealogy as son Ted
Allie. The child reported in 1910 as Horace matches the child in reported
1900 under the name William J B. I cannot resolve this great difference in
name.

John Henry's Draft Registration for WWI provides some additional information.
John Henry Lynch
Residence Carnegie (Caddo), Oklahoma
Born 21 December 1874
Farmer, self-employed
Grey eyes, Brown hair
Wife Sarah L Lynch
Registration 12 September 1818, Cordell, Washita County, Oklahoma

In 1920, we find they have moved over into nearby Caddo County, Oklahoma.
Both their obituaries state that they moved there in 1918. Buck Lynch tells
me John and Sallie continued farming but also opened up a cafe in Carnegie,
which they ran until retirement in 1943. These dates are also reported in the
obits.

Lynch, Ilene [Eyline] Dau F W 3yrs 5mos OK TX GA

The child Mabel here matches the child reported as Mabel in 1910. We can
guess that her name is Mabel Clarice. This child is missing from the Carter
genealogy.

The the child reported as Horce in 1910 and Horace in 1920 matches the child
reported in 1900 as William J B! This is a fascinating mystery, since none of
the initials of W J B make room for any Horace! The J matches the name John
Horace give to me by his cousin, Buck Linsten Lynch, son of Arthur, brother of
John Henry. He is called Horace John by Robert Stephen Carter.

The birthday of WJB Lynch in the 1900 census matches the age of Horace in
censuses of 1910 and 1920. The genealogy by Robert Stephen Carter also gives
the birth for Horace John as 11 March 1900.

Note that in the 1920 census, the birth place of John's father is Georgia
instead of Alabama, as in the 1880 census. The family genealogy by Robert
Stephen Carter also reports that Grief Linsten Lynch was born in Georgia, on 6
August 1852. So it would appear the error is in the 1880 census, lacking
other sources. The genealogy does not give its sources, but I later learned
from Buck Lynch that he had supplied the Lynch information to the Carter
genealogy.

From the 1910 and 1920 censuses we can tell that John and Mollie moved to
Oklahoma between 1904 and 1910. The obituary for each of them, published in
the Carnegie, Oklahoma, newspaper, reports that they "came to Carnegie in 1905
and located on a farm in the Union Corner community northwest of town." This
matches the date reported by Buck Linsten for their move to Oklahoma. The
obituaries further tell us that they moved in Carnegie town "in 1918 and
engaged in the cafe business, retiring in 1943."
-- Obituary of John H Lynch, July 1953, and Sallie (Sally) Lynch, October
1953 (name and exact date of paper article uncertain)

In light of this report, it appears that John and Sallie's business referred
to in the 1920 census as a bakery was or became the restaurant referred to in
the obituaries. John's occupation in the 1920 census is listed as "Salesman,
Bakery." It might have started out as a bakery, then expanded into a full
restaurant. But it is still strange that he is not listed as the owner.
Maybe he bought it from someone else after that time.

John's obituary tells us he died at 3:37 AM on Monday, 13 July 1953, in the
Carnegie Hospital, after an illness of 3 months. His death certificate
reports he died of prostate cancer ("carcinoma of prostate"). Both the
obituary and the death certificate tell us John was buried on 14 July 1953 in
the Carnegie Cemetery, Carnegie, Caddo County, Oklahoma. The funeral ceremony
was held in the Carnegie Church of Christ, where John and Sally had been
members during their stay in Carnegie. The service was conducted by Sam Evans
of Chickasha (Grady County, Oklahoma). Pitcher Funeral Home managed the
arrangements.

Note that the date of the obit is reported here as 13 July 1953. Yet the obit
was after the burial, since it is in the past tense. The note in his FAG
memorial states it was published on July 13, the date of death, a Monday. But
the obit announced the funeral as already occurring on Tuesday, so it had to
have been published on the 14th, if not the 15th.
