Notes for Mary Electra MARTEL

I found three different helpful genealogies that reported on this marriage and
children, with different names. While one gives Mary's name as only Mary, two
provide Mary's full name as Mary Electra. One provides information on her
parents and siblings. Mary Martel is reported in one genealogy as born in
Unionport, Ohio in 1851. Another genealogy which had no birth date reports
her death on 14 August 1880 in Lamar County, Texas.

Mynnie Riddler reports Mary's father as John Blampied Martel, born 9 March
1827 in Guernsey County, Ohio. Her mother was Nancy Maria Sarchet, on 4
October 1831 in the same county. John died in Washington County, Illinois,
where the family moved after Joshua was born in Ohio. Nancy Maria also died
in Washington County on 7 January 1863.

Mynnie also gives Joshua Pugh's full name as Joshua Bales Pugh. It appears
that Joshua's middle name Bales was a form of the family name Bayless in his
father's family. I am not including that whole line here.

One genealogy reported the three wives of Joshua, while the other two with
Martel family information lacked the other two wives. The more extensive
genealogy reported Joshua's children with Mary Martel as Nancy E and Anna E.
Another one also reported two daughters, as Elizabeth and Eunice.

A third had the name Eunice Pugh but no name for the second daughter. It
would makes sense that the Elizabeth is one of the other girls' middle name.
Being listed first I am guessing that this Elizabeth is Nancy E, and thus
reporting this child as Nancy Elizabeth. This leaves the name Eunice to match
Anna E.

In the 1880 census the two daughters are reported with the names of Nancy E
and Elizabeth A.

Notes for Rafaela MARTESA

Rafaela Martesa Camacho
Birth 1926
Death 2007 (aged 80-81)
Burial Mount Saint Marys Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri,
Section A
Created by Anonymous 5 Nov 2012
-- Find A Grave Memorial 100226678,
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/100226678/rafaela-camacho

A burial marker in Mt St Marys Cemetery, where several other Camachos are
buried in Kansas City, reports Phillip as the husband of Rafaela Martesa. A
Camacho genealogy reports Phillip Camacho Jr's wife as Guadalupe Conchola.

Guadalupe (Lupe) Conchola would be the Lupe C reported as Phillip's wife in
the 1959 and 1960 city directories. Yet according to Camacho family
genealogies, she married Lupe married Ruben Anaya in 1961. Genealogies have
no marriage date for Phillip and Lupe Conchola, and no record has been found.

If Phillip married Socorro Monsivais in 1962 as his daughter reports above,
and Lupe married Ruben in 1961, they would have divorced about 1960, or
shortly after the city directory came out. A divorce was very unusual for a
Catholic family in that era.

To have four children during that time, they had to be married about 5 years.
Since they were together in the 1960 directory (or at least when it was being
compiled for publication), they must have married about 1955.

Felicia Freisner seems to be indicating that her mother is Socorro Monsivais.
But this conflicts with the burial record name for Phillip's wife. Another
Phillip Camacho (born about 1949), in his Camacho, genealogy, reports our
Phillip's second wife as Rafaela Martesa.

He reports dates of birth and death matching the years on the grave, and those
reported by Felicia Feisner for Socorro Monsivais. But the months differ.
The birth and death years are the same as for the two except the months
differ. The dual burial marker for Rafaela Martesa and Phillip Camacho has no
dates for Phillip.

Felicia tells us that both her mother (Rafaela? Socorro?) died in Lenexa
(Kansas) in July 2007 and her father (Phillip) died in the same place in
November 2007. These dates match other records for them. This is on the
Kansas side of the River from Kansas City, Missouri, where other members of
the Camacho family are buried.

"My Dad was Phillip Camacho Jr 25 May 1926 - 4 November 2007. His parents
were Phillipe (Mexico, 1902 - 1962) and Feliciano (Trevino) Camacho (b
Thurber, TX, 1903 - Nov 6,1995). My Dad was married to "MiMi" (real name
Socorro Monsivais (27 June 26 in Monterrey, Mexico - July 13, 2007) on 23 June
1962. My Mom [name ?; Socorro ?] just died of Alzheimer's at Delmar Gardens
of Lenexa [Johnson County, Kansas]. My Dad also just died there. I was
searching for relatives. I think Rudy Camacho was born 13 July 1943, died in
Chicago, IL 12 December 2006. My siblings (Dad's kids from Guadalupe Conchola
are Phil, Rita, Jerry and Mary)."
-- Felicia Freisner, Camacho Surname Discussion Forum, 11 November 2007,
https://www.ancestry.com/boards/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=174&p=surnames.camacho

It may be that the names Rafaela Martesa and Socorro Monsivais refer to the
same person. Both died in 2007. We have only the year for Martesa. Rafaela's
Social Security records were found in seraches only on15 February 2019. The
date of death for Rafaela Martesa reported there is the same as that reported
by Felicia Freisner for her mother Socorro Monsivais, but the birth date,
though the same year, is a differennt date and month. The initial M in the
following sSocial security record for Rafaela could stand for Monsivais or
Martesa.

U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014
Rafaela M Camacho
Born 24 Oct 1926
Died 13 Jul 2007
Last Residence Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri 64145

Rafaela is buried there, and Phillip's name is on the joint headstone, but no
dates are on his side, only his name. Lacking other information, however, I
think it is safe to conclude that Phillip is also buried there, but for some
reason the dates were never engraved.

Notes for Alfred Mathew MARTIN

In the 1850 census there is a record for an Alford Martin of the right age in
Shelby County, Texas, on the border with Louisiana. He is rooming with a
Cartwright family. Alford is reported as the 5-year-old son of an Easter
(Esther) Martin with other siblings. She appears to be a widow related to the
Cartwrights, perhaps the younger sister of Robert Cartwright, the 41-year-old
head of this household.

This entry for Andrew J Green matches Andrew Jacob Green, son of James Daniel
Green. This report of Andrew as a cousin of Elbert strengthens the rumor that
James Daniel is descended from the same line of Greens that Talitha Green
Jackson (mother of Frances Randolph Brinkley) belongs to.

Betty Jackson Hess had reported in one of her letters that this Green family
spent a lot of time at the Jackson home. She seemed to remember that James
was the son of a brother of her grandmother (Talitha Green). But the Green
family in Oklahoma has no information on any children that would match this
James Daniel. This relationship of his son as a cousin of Elbert Martin
indicates some connection, though it has not been documented yet. But as of
2016, no connection has been established.
