All the records indicate that Elizabeth Ward McSwain was her full given name.
She appears in censuses (see above) with her parents in 1910 in Scurry County
and in 1920 in San Marcos, Hays, County. She went west to teach in Fremont,
Colorado, and was enumerated there in the 1930 census as Elizabeth W McSwain.
It appears she never married.

She is buried in the same cemetery as her brother Richard Douglas McSwain and
other McSwain family members. Others are in other San Marcos area cemeteries
and both her father Robert Brown McSwain and her mother Mary McKinnon McSwain
died and are buried in San Angelo.

These McSwains are cousins to my wife, Edith Marie McSwain Jenkins, who all
grew up in Arkansas County, Arkansas. These in San Marcos are from a group of
the same settlers from North Carolina that moved to Nevada County, Arkansas
then some on to Texas and Oklahoma.

"My husband's father was John Wycough. He was married to Elsie McSwain and

divorced or why John is nowhere to be found in the 1940 [census?]. Hoping that

Notes for Ensley MCSWAIN

Some sources speak of Ensley's birth in Cleveland County, North Carolina. The
name of the area was actually Rutherford County in 1839 when he was born.
Celveland Cuonty was formed in 1841 out of Rutherford and Lincoln Counties.

Paul Sarrett correctly reports the date and place name of Ensley's birth in
his Sarrett genealogy which reprots on the McSwain line. He reports no death
information or further details.

Ensley appears in two censues, 1850, wnen he is reported as Ainsley, and 1860,
when his name is Ensley (Enzley).

For a long time I had no death information, but in September found further
details in recent new postings of sources on Acnestry.com. Ensley's death
date had been reported in the Hamrick genealogy, but there was no location or
explanation. The Civil War records tell us he died of war wounds in Richmond,
Virginia.

Two different reports of Ensley's service in the Army of the Confederate
States of America provide some helpful details I have not found in any family
genealogy sources. These, along with the 1860 census, which I found the same
day as the Civil War records, indicates that the proper form of his name was
likely Ensley. His name was recorded as Ainsley in the 1850 census, which was
the oly public record I initially could find for this person.

Esther is missing from family genealogies i have seen. In a list of all the
children, in George's son Eldon's Bible, Ester [Esther?] is reported with a
birth date in 1901. According to the birth dates, she was the first child
born, but the last listed. But she never appears in any records. She must
have died before the 1910 census.
