Notes for Henry Anderson MULLENNIX

In 1910, Henry is enumerated in Dickens County, Texas, two pages earlier than
his sister Sarah M Mullennix Shields and her family, including Henry and
Sarah's mother, Lydia (Liddie) Autry Mullennix.

In 1918, Henry registered for the WWI Draft, reporting his residence as
Fayetteville, Arkansas. But he is working in Jacksonville, in Davidson County
in central Tennessee, where he is working for the DuPont Company. (It appears
the community called Jacksonville is now called Old Hickory) Henry registered
in Nashville on 6 September 1918, but gives his address as RFD 1 in
Fayetteville, where he indicates his wife Dora may be contacted as nearest
relative.

By 1930 Henry has bought his house, whereas he was renting in 1920. From this
census we can tell that Henry and Dora moved back to his home state of
Arkansas about 1917. The 1930 census tells us their son Pleasant is 14 and
born in Texas. This means that some time in 1916, they were still in Texas
for Pleasant's birth. We know from the WWI Draft Registration that in
September 1918 their residence was in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

This give about 12-18 months when they would have moved to Arkansas. That
would be about 1917. In the 1920 and 1930 censuses I find no child matching
the called Bunyon in the 1910 census. This would likely mean he died before
1920. There is no child of equivalent age in the later censuses. But I
wondered if the child named Paul in 1930 might be the same one. That would
associate both names with the legendary Paul Bunyan.

But Paul in 1930 is only 8, meaning he was born in 1922. There is no child at
all that would match Bunyon, who should be 10 or 11 in 1920. Henry was still
living in Washington County, Arkansas, when he died in 1941.

Notes for William Franklin MULLENNIX

Members oif this family lineage have spelled their names in vairous ways, and
related families today spell the family name several different ways. The most
common spelling found in Mullinax, as found in the censuses here, but thhis
famy spelled their name Mullinix.

Dennis Comer, a descendant, reports:
"This family spelled their last name Mullennix not Mullinax. ... I have death
records and information from living decendants verifying this."
-- personal email to Orville Boyd Jenkins, July 2008

Military records also confirm the spelling:
1890 Federal Census, Comanche County, Texas, Veterans Schedule, June, Justice
Precinct 1, District 54, page 2, Sidney, Hse #358, Fam #363
Lydie O Mullennix, Widow of Veteran William F Mullennix
Home in 1890 Precinct 1, Comanche, Texas
Enlisted 1863 Discharged 1865, Rank: Private

In censuses the name of William's family is spelled Mullinax. Note that the
censuses have his given names in two different orders. In 1850 in Franklin
County, Alabama, he is listed as Franklin W. But in 1860 in the same county
he is listed as William F.

Notes for Bryson MULLINAX

Dorothy Mullinnix reports that only Bryson (Brison) stayed behind when his
father Isaac C Mullinax moved with all his other children to Gilmer County,
Georgia. She reports that he died in North Carolina, and that both he and his
wife Sarah Berry Mullinax, were buried in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in
Cherokee County, South Carolina. On a visit to the cemetery on a Mullinax
family reunion trip in 2009, I found Bryson's grave in the Antioch Baptist
Church Cemetery there in Blacksburg, in Cherokee County, formerly part of York
County.

Mike Taylor, however, reports that they were buried in the Antioch Baptist
Church Cemetery in Grover, Lincoln County, North Carolina. I note that
Dorothy agrees with some other genealogies in reporting that other members of
the family were also buried in an Antioch Cemetery in (Jasper,) Gilmer County,
Georgia. (These reports appear to result from a confusion of the name Antioch
in each place.)

Mullinax, Asbury 22 M W Cabinet Maker b NC

The child listed as Francis in 1850 and Francis A in 1860 is now enumerated as
Asbury in 1870. This matches the child found in the Mullinnix Files by
Dorothy as Francis Asbury, b about 1848. Bryson's wife Sarah is reported
under the common nickname Sallie.

I note that there is no listing here for Louisa J, who first appeared in the
1860 census. She should have been about 12 years old in this census, b 2
August 1858. Family sources report she died 20 January 1906.

We see a discrepancy here in Bryson's age. In 1850 he was 38, in 1860 he was
46, gaining 8 years in age. And in 1970 he is 54, gaining a total of only 16
years in the 20-year span, a common occurrence in the the 1800s censuses. His
reported age in 1850 would mean birth in about 1811 or 12, when family sources
tell us his actual birthday was 19 February 1814, matching his reported age in
1860. But the age reported in 1870 would make him born about 1816.

I found Bryson's grave in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Blacksburg,
South Carolina. This is in Cherokee County, formerly part of York County.

Notes for Elizabeth MULLINAX

The source I cite from Allcensus.com genealogy of early Americans gives the
birth year of Elizabeth as 1771. However, other genealogies give that as the
date of birth for Greenberry, who does not appear in the Allcensus list.

There are also some children of this family missing from this list that appear
in others. This seems to indicate that, though that author has some more
complete information on certain persons, there are gaps in the data.
