Some sources include Greenberry as a child of John Mullinax and Sarah Donnelly, but this is declared an error by descendants who have researched the line. It appears that one or more genealogies have mixed this Greenberry Mullinix/Mullinax with the children of John Mullinax and Sarah Donnally of South Carolina. Greenberry appears rather to be a member of another branch of Mullinaxes. But they are also associated with Anne Arundel County and/or Frederick County, Maryland. It has been reported by other Mullinax descendants and family researchers that the parents of Greenberry Mullinix/Mullinax are John or Jonathan Mullinax (Born: 1733, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Died: 1800, Aaron Hill, Randolph County, North Carolina) and Susannah Greenberry (Born: 1740, Ann Arundel County, Maryland, Died: (Unknown), Wayne County, Kentucky). Greenberry is reported to have married Christina Beaver Morgan. Family sources report they had 11 children: Silas Andrew Elisha Permenter (Prementer, Parmenter) Henry Jonathan David Mary Greenberry Elizabeth Sarah Christina Some also include a girl named Unity, but others indicate she is a child of different parents. I have kept the spelling of this person's last name as the source spells it. The names of various members of this same line are often spelled differently in the same sources and settings, by their own hand or others. Some genealogies standardize all the names in different ways. Others leave them with the various spellings. 1800 Federal Census, Randolph County, North Carolina, Hillsboro Township, page 31 Green Mullenix 1 male under 10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 16-25 1 female under 10, 1 female 26-44 3 members of household under 16, 1 over 25, Total Household Members 5 Greenberry's mother Susannah, widowed shortly before the census, is living next dodor to Green. 1800 Federal Census, Randolph County, North Carolina, Hillsboro Township, page 31 Susannah Mullenix 2 males 10-15, 1 female under 10 1 female 10-15, 2 females 16-25, 1 female 45 and over 4 members of household under 16, 1 over 25, Total Household Members 7

Melinda's name varies in the sources. You will notice also that in some sources the last name is spelled Mullinix, probably following current spelling by certain branches of the family. Different branches settled on different "official" spellings of the family name over the decades. Even the Old Pendleton Genealogy has John's name as Mullinix, where others in this family are spelled as Mullinax. The fist census reporting Malinda, at age 1, 1850, spells the family name Mullinax. Melinda appears in the 1850 census as Melinda J Mullinax. 1850 Federal Census, Eastern Division, Pickens County, South Carolina, 29 July, Eastern Division, Pickens, p 909, Hse/Fam #47 JG Mullinax, age 30 born SC Elizabeth A Mullinax, age 31, SC Margarett A Mullinax, 4, SC Melinda J Mullinax, 1, SC Though several family genealogies list Malinda's name as Jane Malinda, in censuses she is always Malinda J and her death certificate records her name as Malinda J. The name is spelled Malinda in most sources, including the 1900 and 1910 censuses, and her death certificate. I am following the name order of the census and death certificate and its spelling on her death certificate and other supporting documents, to list her as Malinda Jane Mullinax. Her death certificate also reports her father as William Mullinax, while other sources report her as the daughter of John Gaines Mullinax. We see in the 1850 census her father is reported as J G Mullinax. I am not sure how to evaluate that information. Malinda's father is documented as John G Mullinax. Perhaps John was also named William, a fact not reported in any of the family genealogies I have seen. The informant on her death certificate is T F Evatt, which is probably her son Thomas. In the 1900 census Thomas was reported as Thomas H, not Thomas F. Similarly his father was reported in that same census as John H, while we know his middle name was Franklin. In the 1910 census John if John F as expected.. Perhaps Thomas did not know his grandfather's name (which does not seem likely) or said the wrong name inadvertently, or perhaps even the coroner wrote it incorrectly, maybe writing the information later from memory or on his own. But it appears that the family was living in Pickens County when she was born. This is their location in the 1850 census.

This family is listed in sources with spelling of either Mullinax or Mullinix. There are perhaps other variations. These are the two primary forms of spelling that members of the family settled on and passed down. Francis G Mullinix also is shown as Francis G Mullinax in some genealogies. Sources I have seen give no indication what the middle initial stands for. Several children in this family have this same middle initial. I have thought it likely that this stands for the name Gaines, the maiden name of their mother. This likelihood is strengthened by the fact that in the next generation, the son of John S Mullins is named John Gaines. This is the case with his siblings who have middle initials. I suspect that all the children of John S Mullinax (Mullinix) Sr and Alsey Gaines with middle initial G are named Gaines. The Old Pendleton District GEDCOM gives an alternative birth date for Francis G. Other family genealogies report the year 1816, but the OPD genealogy reports the year 1810.
