Notes for David Myrddin JAMES

England & Wales, Birth Index, 1916-2005
David M James
Mother's Maiden Surname Lloyd
Date of Registration Jul-Aug-Sep 1925
Registration district Merthyr Tydfil, Wales
Volume 11a, Page #1505

This Welsh birth record has only the quarter of the year, not the exact date.
But the range of dates matches the exact birth date that David reported to U S
Immigration authorities in the following records, and in his Social Security
records. The place of birth as Merthyr Tydfil matches David's reports to US
immigration that he was born in Aberdare, Wales. Merthyr Tydfil as the
primary city in Glamorgan, Wales. Aberdare is a smaller town near Tydfil.

There is one 1925 birth record in Glamorgan in the last quarter of the year
for a David M James, but the birth date does not match that documented by
other sources for our David Myrddin James. (There are several birth records
for individuals of the name David M James in 1925 in various locales of
Wales.)

Merthyr Tydfil

Welsh: Merthyr Tudful
Merthyr Tydfil, Mid Glamorgan Ceremonial County, Wales, United Kingdom
Post town	MERTHYR TYDFIL

Merthyr Tydfil (/ˈmɜrθər ˈtɪdvɪl/;[2] Welsh: Merthyr Tudful
[ˈmɛrθɨr ˈtɨːdvɨ̞l]) is a town in Wales, with a population of about
59,500, situated approximately 23 miles (37 km) north of Cardiff. Once the
largest town in Wales, it is now the 14th largest urban area in Wales. It is
in the historic county of Glamorgan and is currently the main town in Merthyr
Tydfil County Borough administered by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
Both the town and the county borough are often referred to as 'Tydfil' and the
Crown Court can be found in the back half of the Crown Court lists.

Aberdare (/ˌæbərˈdɛər/ ab-ər-dair;[1] Welsh: Aberdâr) is a town in the
Cynon Valley area of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, at the confluence of the Rivers
Dare (Dâr) and Cynon. The population at the 2001 census was 31,705 (ranked
13th largest in Wales).[2] Aberdare is 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south-west of
Merthyr Tydfil, 20 miles (32 km) north-west of Cardiff and 22 miles (35 km)
east-north-east of Swansea. During the nineteenth century it became a thriving
industrial settlement, which was also notable for the vitality of its cultural
life and as an important publishing centre.

"We do not know when Mary was born, nor when she married. But she is clearly
married by 1788. That suggests she was born not much later than 1768. Various
dates for her birth from 1746 to 1773 have been proposed. We simply do not
know."

Marriage abt 1784 Dettingen, Prince William Co. Virginia

"We do NOT know when Benjamin and Mary married. We only know that in March of
1788 she was referred to as Mary Gregory in her father's Will. So we know they
were married by then. We have 1791 as the date of Jesse's birth, also
supporting assumptions."

Notes for Robert JARMON

If the information on Robert's son's birth record is correct, he is Robert
Jarmon Senior. I have not discovered if father or son had a middle name.

California Birth Index, 1905-1995, www.ancestry.com
Robert Junior Jarmon
Birth 20 Feb 1937 Los Angeles County
Mother's Maiden Name Young

Robert and his wife Novella (Young) are listed in Los Angeles County voter
registration rolls. They are the only Jarmons in the county rolls. In 1932,
Robert is listed alone, then in the 1932 rolls, Novella is listed at the same
residence address. This indicates they married sometime between the two
registrations, in about 1933, unless he registered to vote and she did not.

Note the designations at the end of the listings, which tell us which party
they registered with. DS stands for Democratic Socialist. Robert changed
from DS to Democratic Party after he and Novella married.

California Voter Registrations
Los Angeles County, 1932
Jarmon, Robert 4507 1369 1/2 E 46th st DS

In 1934, Jarmon's wife is listed as Movella, but in 1938 it is Novella.

California Voter Registrations

California Voter Registrations
Los Angeles County, 1938
Jarmon, Mrs Novella 4507 Ascot av housewife, D
Jarmon, Robert 4507 Ascot av swamper, D

In 1942, Robert is still the only Jarmon listed in the LA County voter rolls.
There is no listing for Novella this time. She must have missed the
registration, because she shows up again in 1946. I note Robert is also at a
different address and now working as a janitor. He is now a Republican. They
are still the only Jarmons registered in the county.

California Voter Registrations
Los Angeles County, 1942
Jarmon, Robert 694 E 41st pl janitor, R

In 1946, they are both registered at the same address we had for Robert in
1942. Novella is still a Democrat, even though Robert has been registered as
a Republican since 1942. Novella is listed as Movella here. This
registration does not list jobs.

California Voter Registrations
Los Angeles County, 1946
Jarmon, Movella 694 E 41st pl D
Jarmon, Robert 694 E 41st pl R

1948 rolls are an exact duplication of 1946. Because Novella is showing up
more times now as Movella, I am thinking maybe that was the correct form of
her name rather than Novella.

California Voter Registrations
Los Angeles County, 1948

In 1950 I don't find either of them on the voter rolls for Los Angeles County.
But in 1952, they are back, still canceling out each other's vote for opposite
parties.
