first names: Cauble, Wilson Robert J. Wilson is his last name.

In 1920 The child matching Allen is named William A. All the children are
born in Oklahoma except Hazel. Since they are living in Texas for the 1910
census, that means they were back in Oklahoma during the time William Allen
was born about 1908, then were in Fisher County, Texas, the back in Oklahoma
by the time Ethelene was born in about 1912. They were in Texas again when
Hazel was born about 1915.

Both Annie's parents had been born in Texas and both died there. They moved
to Texas at some time after the 1920 census and both died before the 1930
census. Annie's father Pete died in McCauley in Fisher County, Texas in 1924
and her mother Jane died in 1925 in Archer City, Archer County, Texas.

Charlie and Annie married in 1920, some time after the census that year. No
marriage record has been found. It is uncertain whether Charlie and Annie
married in Marlow, where the Gregorys had just moved from and the Caubles
still lived at the time of the 1920 census, or if the Caubles may have moved
to Garvin County before moving to Texas. But the overall situation seems to
indicate they married in Marlow.

In 1930, Charles and Annie were reported living 4 houses down form Charlie's
parents in the Elmore Township of Garvin County, Oklahoma.

Charley and Annie divorced before the 1940 census. Charley is enumerated in
the household of his 84-year-old father and his brother Edd in Elmore City.
Annie is enumerated with her second husband Herman Roberson in Lindsay, as
Anna Roberson. Her two children Virgil and Vivian are in their household.
Assuming that the report that they were in the same place in 1935 is correct,
Anna and Herman were married before 1935. The location of the children in
1935 is not reported.

"Hello Orville, I haven't contacted you in some time but have done DNA
research on Virgil and discovered that Charles Bluford Gregory is not his
biological father. He was raised by him whether he knew he wasn't his son I
can't know. So Virgil is my bio father and Annie Cauble is his mother but he
has a different father. So now I have a whole new line of people to contact
for bio father information. Boy, people were busy back in the day. Just
thought you would like to know for your tree information. Pamela"
-- Pamela McDonald-Kown, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 21
December 2019

"Virgil's parents are Annie and Charles Gregory, only DNA proves that he is
not a bio child of Charles, Annie was a Cauble and that is where my DNA
connection first came from. Through DNA research by a registered Genetic
Genealogist 2 and 3 cousins were determined in matches to me to a man whose
last name was Battles."
-- Pamela McDonald-Kown, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 22
December 2019

From what has been learned in the DNA comparison evidence and supporting
circumstantial information, the possibilities for fatherhood of Virgil are
two, Bascom Warner Battles and Arthur Garfield Battles, The following is my
analysis of information known by late December 2019 from the censuses and
living locations of Battles families.

---------------------------------
Charlie and Annie married after the census in 1920. In that census, they were
living four houses from his father, enumerated on the same page of the census.
Arthur Garfield Battles was two houses away from Dock Gregory's home where his
unmarried son Charlie was living at that time, with his wife Bertha and two
young children. He was 38 that year. Next door to Charles and Annie was
Ensley Battles with his wife Cora and on child.

District 25, page 11B-12A, Hse #189, Fam #201

Battles, Cora Wife F W 23 Married TX KY TX [b abt 1896]
Battles, Rc [sic] Son M W 3 Single OK AL TX [b abt 1916]

Next door was Ensley's brother Arthur G Battles and his family.

1920 Federal Census, Garvin County, Oklahoma, 30 January, Elmore Township,
District 25, page 12A, Hse #190, Fam #202

Battles, Si Son M W 3 Single OK AL TX [b abt 1916]
Battles, Ovie M W 2 Single TX TX TX [b abt 1917]

In 1930 they were living in the 4th house away from his parents and some of
his brothers. That year Bascom and his family were next door to them, but A G
Battles was not in that area. So I do not know when A G and the other Battles
reported in 1920 moved away nor when Bascom and Minerva moved in.

I noticed that the Battles families were all renting, so they may have just
moved around a lot.

Since we don't know what year A G moved out and Bascom moved in, they may have
overlapped. A G may have been the philander earlier and Bascom later during
that same 6-7 year period.

I have not found Bascom in the 1920 census. He was reported as age 45 in the
1930 census. He was not around that area when Charley and Anna got married,
and all their children were born before 1930, when Virgil was 2.5 yrs old.

1930 Federal Census, Garvin County, Oklahoma, 19 April, Elmore Township,
District 25-8, page 11A, Hse #188, Fam #197

Battles Lee J Son F W 15 OK AL TX
Battles Earl W Son F W 11 OK AL TX
Battles Robert W Son F W 11 OK AL TX

Bascom has not been found in the 1920 census to discover where he and his
family were living at that time.

We don't know for sure when Bascom moved in and AG moved out of the Elmore
City area. The critical time then covers the years from 1920-21 (when they
married and Annie's first child was born) until 1927 when Virgil was born.
But Charlie had long ago expressed doubt about all his children's parentage.
This seems to swing the weight of likelihood to Arthur Garfield Battles, or
there may have been more than one man involved.
---------------------------------

"Uncle Charlie said he didn't know if any of their children were really his.
He said he would find her out in the field with different men."
-- Loretta Gregory Gay, niece of Charlie Gregory, phone conversation with her
nephew Orville Boyd Jenkins, 23 December 2019

"I have spoken to Annie's cousin and she has told me that Annie was quite the
wild one so she wasn't surprised about it. Makes one wonder if the of
children were Gregory"
-- Pamela McDonald-Kown, Ancestry Messaging to Orville Boyd Jenkins, 22
December 2019

No divorce record has been found. It may be that the revelation of Virgil's
true parentage was a factor in the divorce.

In the 1940 census, Annie is enumerated with her second husband Herman
Roberson in Lindsay, as Anna Roberson. Her two children Virgil and Vivian are
in their household.

Roberson, and he was a fireman in the Lindsay Fire Department. She said she
never knew his real name, only Skinny.
-- Loretta Gregory Gary, phone conversation with Orville Boyd Jenkins, 23

Skinny and Annie moved to California not long after the census. Their
daughter Bobi Jone Roberson was born

"Eva Sue [Gregory] and I share a Mother, Ann Mable Cauble Gregory Roberson.

Notes for Winny Ann CAVENDER

Georgia Marriages to 1850
Enoch Green
Spouse Winny Ann Cavender
Marriage 30 Oct 1840 Hall County, Georgia

Winny appears to be Enoch's first wife. In the 1850 census he is with a
different wife, and another marriage record correlates with this. The
8-year-old son W A woudl be the child of the first wife.

1850 Federal Census, Hall County, Georgia, 10 September, District 38, page
367, Hse/Fam #499
Enoch Green 29 M Laborer b South Carolina
S Green 21 F b unknown
W A Green 8 M b Georgia
M E Green 8mos M b Georgia

Shortly after I found this 1850 census record, I found a marriage record that
seemed to match Enoch and his wife:
Georgia Marriages to 1850
Enoch Green
Spouse Susannah Wilkerson
Marriage 20 Mar 1848 Hall County, Georgia

The name Susannah on the marriage record matches the initial S in the census.
This marriage date is 1848, but the first child in the census is 8 years old,
making him born in 1842, so he would be Winny Ann's son.

Notes for John CELLIER

---------------------
Patience Hannah Bird

Patience Hannah Bird was the daughter of Jonathan Bird and Marie Blanche
Hebert (pronounced abair). Marie Blanche was born an Hebert in Acadia and was
deported by the British along with her husband John Cellier in 1755. They
were sent by ship to Philadelphia where they detained aboard ship for a time.
John Cellier died a couple of years after that and Marie Blanche Hebert
eventually married Jonathan Bird.

Marie Blanche and Cellier are well documented in Acadian lineage and Marie
Blanche Hebert traces back to the original settlers of Acadia. Any questions
you may have about this can be followed up on the Acadian genealogy group on
Facebook. I have absolutely no info on Jonathan Bird past the fact that he
married Marie Blanche.
