The wife here is listed by what family sources give us as her middle name.
Elizabeth F is known as Frances Elizabeth from other sources. The place of
birth of Elizabeth's father is interesting. Alsace-Lorraine is a large
province now part of France. This province was and to some extent still is a
German-speaking province. I have met German-speaking French citizens from
Alsace-Lorraine. This Province had shifted back and forth between the French
and German powers in the course of the incessant European wars. Previous
census reports had reported Peter Thomas as born in Prussia. Prussia was the
German State which had created the then-current German Empire. We had no
definite point of origin for the Thomas family.

"Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Cobb, 84, of 1703 E. 27th St.,
will be held at 3 p.m. today [10 July 1972] at the Hillier Funeral Home
chapel, the Rev. Bailey. Stone of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial
will be in Bryan City Cemetery..."

Notes for J THOMAS

In the 1870 census this person is enumerated only as J Thomas, age 7. All the
persons in this census for Brazos County were listed only by initials. I have
not found any other sources yet (September 2008) to indicate what the name of
this child was. J Thomas was the last child of Nicholas and Mary Ann Thomas.
From his age of 7 in 1870, we see he was born in about 1863, perhaps in late
1862.

This gives us a narrower range of possible death dates for his father
Nicholas. Nicholas is enumerated in the 1860 census in Brazos County, Texas,
with his wife Mary Ann, but has died before the 1870 census. He does not
appear in the Cottonwood Cemetery with other members of the Thomas family.

grandfather of Joe Frank Thomas.

His sister Wanda's obituary refrerred to her infant brother Joe Frank who had
