"Roger Gregory.  Son of Richard Gregory (i).  Born about 1690; died prior to
1732.  Married Mildred, daughter of Lawrence Washington.  On the 17th of May,
1736, Roger Gregory and Mildred, his wife, deeded the Mt. Vernon estate to
Augustine Washington.  They were then residents of Stratton Major Parish, King
and Queen County.  The witnesses were William Aylett, John Washington, and
Lawrence Butler.

Issue: Frances, who married, September 3, 1736, Francis Thornton (see Thornton
Excursus); Mildred, who married, October 28, 1740, John Thornton, and
Elizabeth, who married four times:
first, April 29, 1743, Henry Willis, son of Colonel Henry Willis (who had
married her mother);
second, Reuben Thornton;
third, Doctor Thomas Walker, the Explorer, and
fourth, Colonel Alcock, of the British Army.
Mildred Gregory, the elder, was the godmother of General George Washington."

Reuben Thornton; she married, secondly, Colonel Henry Willis, the founder of
Fredericksburg, by whom she had a son, Colonel Lewis Willis, and a daughter,
Anne, who married Duff Green.

He lived first in Spottsylvania and afterwards in Caroline. In 1742 he was
justice of the peace of Spottsylvania in 1751; was sheriff, and December 6,
1753, was elected a member of the house of burgesses for Spottsylvania to
supply the place of William Waller, who became coroner; senior colonel of the

daughters. The sons are Thomas, Roland and Robert Thornton, of this city, and
Charles of Lawton. The daughters are Mrs. J.C. Parker and Miss Nettie
Thornton, of this city and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Marlow. Funeral services will
be conducted at the Hahn funeral home Monday afternoon [28 Jan 1924] at 2
o'clock. Burial will be in Spencer cemetery.

Lora Fay Thornton-Carlson-Curry, 86, of Sterling, OK, passed away at her home
on Friday, December 21, 2018.  She was born on March 14, 1932, near Elgin, to
Charles Elvin and Minnie Lee Thornton.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 2:00 P.M.
at Letitia Baptist Church near Lawton, with Mike Tompkins officiating.

Lora attended school in Sterling. She graduated from State Cosmetology School
in Lawton and started her career as a beautician.  She married Oscar Carlson
on May 15, 1948 which [marriage] later ended. In 1971, she married Kenneth
Curry. He preceded her in death in 2000.

She enjoyed quilting and gardening. Lora loved attending the senior citizen
center dances in Harrah.  Lora willed her body to OU Medical in honor of her
beloved son, Randall Carlson, who did the same in 2013.

Survivors include her daughter. Barbara and husband Mike Barker of Sterling:
grandchildren: Angela and husband Hino Geiger, Eva and husband Clyde Gray,
Lisa and husband Larry Roberts, Melody Hemmingway, and Randy Carlson; 8
step-grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 31 greai great grandchildren;
brother, Elvin Thornton; sister, Valys Bourlon; and sister-in-law, Mary
Thornton.

Lora is preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Carlson, and her second
husband, Kenneth Curry; parents, Charles and Minnie Thornton; son, Randal
Carlson; brother, Lawson Thornton; sisters, Remona Lovell and Melvina Ford;
and great grandson, Alexander E. Carlson.
