For some reason, George's middle initial is reported here and in 1930 as T instead of E for Edward, as we would expect from family sources. There is one J T L Roy Tugmon, that appears to be our same Leroy, buried in a joint grave with what would be his first wife Mollie G, who died in 1964. Leroy (Roy) Tugmon married Josephine Dobkins Welch in 1968. The 1940 census above reports what appears to be his father Edward as a widower next door to him. Actually, this type of error is not unusual in gravestones, unfortunately. The Tugman name was originally spelled Tugmon, but apparently Lucy Gregory Tugman changed the spelling. Her children use the spelling Tugman.
