Georgia Marriages to 1850 Elizabeth C. Wood Embargo C. Lane Marriage 13 Mar 1831 Jackson County, Georgia Embargo C Lane was born in Georgia, as was his wife Eliza. They lived in Alabama for a short time, where their son Robert was born in about 1837. Assuming Robert was their first child, we can guess they were married about 1836, most likely in Georgia. Since he named one son Columbus, perhaps Embargo's middle initial C stands for the name Columbus. Elizabeth and her husband Embargo moved their family to Texas from Alabama after the birth of Robert in about 1839 and were in Texas before the birth of Embargo Junior in about 1843. Columbus and Elizabeth were enumerated in Panola County, Texas, for the 1860 census when their baby Columbus Lafayette was 4 months of age. 1860 Federal Census, Panola County, Texas, 7 August, Beat #6, PO Fair Play, page 71, Hse/Fam #477 Embargo C Lane 54 M Farmer $2000 Real Estate #500 Personal born Geo Eliza Lane 44 F House K. born Geo Robert 23 M Farmer born Geo John 21 M Farmer born Ala Embargo Lane 17 M Farmer born Tex Mary Lane 15 F House K. born Tex Eliza Lane 9 F born Tex Talbert Lane 7 M born Tex Jasper Lane 6 M born Tex Lafayette Lane 4mos M born Tex In 1870 elizabeth and Enbargo are in Hopkins County, Texas, where they are enumerated twice 10 days apart, with different neighbors. Emma's record of marriage to Henry Beck has her name as Mrs Emma Roberts, which would seems to indicate she has already been married and divorced or widowed before age 18. No record has been found of an earlier marriage, but at least one genealogy has her name as Emma Bell Wood. This name led to the discovery of hier birth record in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. A Tennessee marriage record informs us that Mary E Woods (usually Wood in other sources) married Marvel Green in Roane County, Tennessee, in East Tennessee. The date of 1854 correlates with the birth of the last child of Marvel's first wife Elizabeth Dicus. Tennessee, Marriages, 1851-1900 Mary E Woods Spouse Marvel Green Spouse Gender Male Marriage 21 May 1854 Roane County, Tennessee Elizabeth's daughter Martha S Green was born in about 1854. No exact birth date has been found. This also enables us to say that Elizabeth died in Tennessee, possibly in Roane County. But for the 1850 census, Elizabeth and Marvel wre living in Warren County, Tennessee, in Middle Tennessee,, about 3 couties west of Roane County By 1859 Mary and Marvel had moved to Hardin County, Missouri, where their son James was born, according to his obituary. However, the maker of James' memorial on Find a Grave reported that James was born in St Francois County, Missouri, where the family lived by 1860 census time. James Whitson Green was born in December 1859, according to records. The 1860 and 1870 censuses both report James' birth state as Missouri. 1860 Federal Census, St Francois County, Missouri, 9 August, Outside of Liberty, PO Farmington, page 107 (scan 137), Hse #673, Fam #676 Marvel Green 46 M Farmer $1200 Real Estate $3382 Personal born No Carolina [b abt 1814] Ella M Green 44 F born No Carolina [b abt 1816] John W Green 18 M born No Carolina [b abt 1842] Susannah J Green 16 F born No Carolina [b abt 1844] Jasper M Green 14 M born Tennessee [b abt 1842] Andrew J Green 12 M born Tennessee [b abt 1848] Sarah L Green 8 F born Indiana [b abt 1852] Martha S Green 6 F born Indiana [b abt 1854] James W Green 1 M born Missouri [b abt 1859]
