The census reports the birthplace of his mother as Georgia, the same as the mother of Homer. Margaret Drucilla Crenshaw was actually born in Memphis, Tennessee, according to her obituary. Maggie's own entry in the 1930 census reports her as born in Texas. Her birthplace on the Welch children's entry is also Texas.
Don was born in Marlow, Stephens, County, Oklahoma, and lived in the Marlow and Central High area all his life. He graduated from Central High School in 1944. He was an insurance agent for the Farmer's Insurance Group. His obituary reports that Don liked to play the guitar. At one point Don was a member of the Lions Club in Marlow. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Don was married to Mary Lois Shoemaker. I remember seeing Uncle Donnie at family gatherings when I was child, but I never knew him well.I remember as a young adult visiting him and Mary Lois in Marlow withmy mother, his niece.
Donnie's funeral was conducted at the Church of Christ in Marlow by Jamie Beller, with burial following in the Marlow Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow.
