Notes
- A Colbert genealogy reports Frances' Chickasaw Nation Registration:
Dawes Card #1615, aged 67 on 3 Oct 1898.
I note that this age does not match the 1900 census age, where, two years after the date of the Dawes roll, Fannie is reported as only 55.This age matches the birth date reported in that census also (see below). The genealogy also cites the 1910 census, where Fannie's age is 73, which is different again. At this point I have not seen the imageof the actual Dawes Roll, nor have I found the 1910 census for Fanniecited in the genealogy.
These age reports yield a likely birth year as follows:
Dawes 1898 age 67 born 1831
Census 1900 age 55 born Aug 1844
Census 1910 age 73 born 1836
Fanny is also reported by a genealogy as included in the 1855 ChoctawRoll, Skullyville County, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory (no age reported). The Chickasaw History reports that Frances (spelled Francis there) was born 15 Aug 1831, matching the Dawes roll age in 1898.
Frances (Fannie) had four marriages, and was widowed 4 times. Sherman says she married her first husband, Samuel Hunter Cochran, about 1867. Sam was born 10 October 1807 in Oglethorpe, Georgia, died 13 May 1884 in Indian Territory. The Sherman genealogy reports one child from the Cochran marriage, William Hunter Cochran, born February 1868 inIndian Territory. This birth information comes from the 1900 census, which I transcribe below. Sherman's dates present a problem, since the father died a year before the marriage date and two years before the birth of the son!
Frances' second husband was Daniel David (Dan) Green. whom she married on 8 October 1871, in Indian Territory, according to the Sherman genealogy. They lived in Love County, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Dan died in 1878, so there is no census documentation of their marriage or family. In the 7 years of their marriage, they had three children that are recorded by Sherman. The names of the two boys are unusual and appear to include nickname forms of the first son's first name, Reddick.
Reddick "Redie" Green
Daniel Redric Green
Minnie Lee Green
The second son's middle name Redric also looks like a variation of Reddick. But their birth dates are different, Reddick in Feb 1869 and Daniel on 1 April 1872. A couple of other genealogies, that look like they all copied form each other, also report these three children. Documentation is spotty on all these genealogies. The Chickasaw History, which provides extensive detail on the famous Colbert Chickasaw family, lists no child named Daniel, but reports Redie (nickname for Reddick, or Redrick) Jackson Green, born about 1871, later than births foreither son in the genealogies. I am inclined to think that this history listing of only one son is correct, though I have not yet removed the son Daniel form my tree.
Fannie also had a third husband, Charles Adams, in about 1879, according to a genealogy. Charles was born in Georgia (no other informationknown) who died sometime before 1888, when she married her fourth husband, Theophilus H East. Theophilus was born about 1850 in Iowa.
The genealogy cites marriage license information for Fannie and Theophilus. These two separate transcriptions of the registration of the marriage documents give different dates for the wedding ceremony, either 13 May 1884 or 12 April 1888. Does this indicate they were marriedtwice? There are some differences in the information, Including different County Judges. But I note that the page numbers are the same. It seems likely there were two different inscriptions that involved copying errors. I have not seen these documents myself. One sources reports that there was some irregularity with the first marriage and they were remarried.

The Colbert family genealogy that had all these details about Fannie reported that Theophilus and Fannie died the same year, 1910. But this can't be right, since I found the 1900 census record for 1900 showing her as a widow named Francis East. Perhaps the date of Theophilus'death was in 1900 (before the census) instead of 1910.

All those reported as Indian are designated as Choctaw. Chickasaw History reports that they were first registered as Choctaw, then later switched their registration to the Chickasaw Nation. the Colberts wereChickasaw, and came from Chickasaw Nation, Mississippi.
Oliver would be a son of Charles Adams. A genealogy reports 2 children of Charles and Fannie, the other son being Charles, born about 1885also in Indian Territory. Dan is, of course, the son of Daniel DavidGreen. Note that Dan has already been married and widowed. There were apparently no children from this marriage. Note that both these children are reported as Indians.
Next door to Fannie and these two sons is another son, Hunter Wm Cochran. This would be William Hunter, apparently the only child of Fannie's first marriage with Samuel Hunter Cochran. As in Fannie's household, all those reported as Indian are designated as Choctaw.

In the 1910 census Fannie is living with her son Charles Adams. The entry is curious. They are the second family group in Hse #85. The first family is a white family named Ross, whose head is reported as Renting. But Fannie as reported as Owning.

East, Francis Head F Ind 73 Widow OK MS MS Occupation "Own Account" Owns
Adams, Charles Son M Ind 25 Single OK TX OK
This age of Charles presents a problem, since this would make his born the year or the year after Fannie married Theophilus East, after Charles' father, Charles Adams Sr, had passed away. So this is unclear. One source reports that Fannie had no children with Charles Adams. Yet both his sons in these censuses here were born during the timeafter their marriage.
