    This source also reports the marriage of William and Jane occurred in1895, but there is no comment or documentation.  I later found thisconfirmed in the 1900 census.

    In August 2012, I found the marriage record, which reports thatWilliam's wife was J C McSwain.  His name is also given as W F ratherthan W H, which we find in the Holden family genealogies.

    If John was born in April 1895, then we should estimate the marriageas 1894.  Note that the marriage is reported as occurring in September1895.  The 1900 census birth date for John fits with the marriage,date, reporting his birth in March 1896, not 1895, as found in one ormore genealogies.

    Note that the census reports Jane has had 2 children and only one isliving, but there are two children enumerated here.  Checking ages wesee that the daughter Ethel is 12 year older than John.  Also thebirth places of the mothers is different. Ethel is the child of afirst wife of William.  Jane and William have been married only 5years.  Ethel was born in Mississippi.  John was born in Arkansaswhere William had moved, and where he married Jane.

    William's mother is reported as born in Mississippi, but on her ownreport she is reported as born in North Carolina.  In the 1910 census,however, her birth state in South Carolina.  Her last name Wigly[usually spelled Wiggly or Wiggley] tells us Margaret was widowed atleast twice.

    In December 2010, I found Jerry Griffitt had linked this census to theHolden family in his genealogy.  Griffitt provides some additionaldetails on some of the children.  He reports their marriage in 1895.
