Essie Lee Walkup of Coalgate, died Wednesday, in Mary Hurley Hospital in Coalgate. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Epperson Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Rev. Odis Frederiek will officiate. Burial will be in the McCarty Cemetery. The Epperson Funeral Home of Colgate, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Walkup was born Nov. 24, 1902, in Marlow. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kay Smith Christian.

In June 1922, she married Clyde Walkup in Legal. He died August 13, 1957. Mrs. Walkup's survivors include three daughters Kathleen Jones and Bertie Tinker, both of McAlester, and Janice Meeks of Oklahoma City, three sons, Drual Walkup of Savanna, and Joe Walkup and Robert Walkup, both of Coalgate; a brother in law, Johnnie Walkup of Coalgate; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
