• In her first census enumeration, Ethel was 4 years old, in her parents' home in Rutherford County, North Carolinas, whre she was probably born.  He maternal grandparents were also in their household.

  Her FAG memorial manager says she was born in South Carolina, but the early records indicate her parents did not move to South Carolina until after 1910.  The 1910 census in Rutherford County, North Carolina, reported all their children born in North Carolina.  Some later records erroneously report she and some others were born in South Carolina.  But only Darvin, born in 1916, was born in South Carolina.
