Donna Gene McGhie West, 83, of DeWitt went to be with Jesus Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Crestpark after her lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born October 24, 1935 in DeWitt, AR to the late John and Lottie McGhie.
She was a retired business administrator of DeWitt City Hospital. She was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and loved her Lord, her family, fishing, writing poetry, cooking, gardening, crafting, and Razorback and Cowboy football.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Charles West; a brother, Walton “Fibber” McGhie; and 4 sisters, Alice Carle, Joyce Stephens, Margaret Dillion, and Juanita Carter.
She is survived by sons Mike West (Ann) of Conway and Jade West (Carrie) of DeWitt; daughter Kim Peterson (Joe) of Bartlett, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren, Emily West Ferris (Cody), Beth Peterson Drewery (Austin), Joshua Peterson (Emily), Matthew Peterson (Shelby), and Morgan West; sister Lois Faye Wilson of Florida; and 3 great-grandchildren, Carter Ferris, Noah Peterson, and Emma Drewery.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Gene Fulcher officiating. Burial will be at Forks LaGrue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 at the church preceding the service. Arrangements are by Essex Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Unity Missionary Baptist Church or Forks LaGrue Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Crestpark for the love and care they provided.
