• In the 1930 census Joe Cornett and his wife Violet (Winter) were enumerated as a separtate family in the same household with her mother Allie and stepfather, Payne Wilkereson.  Violet's brother Dee was reported in the household of his mother and stepfather.  Violet and her husband Joesph Clinton Cornett moved to California after the birth of Doris in Oklahoma in 1929.

  The reported age of Violet at marriage does not match the reported as of her daughter Betty Jo as 4 years and 2 months.  That would put Betty Jo's birth before the marriage date.  With Joe's reported age at marriage, it would still be a year before the marriage.  Ages and reported ages at marriage are off.

  Joseph Cornett was the father of Betty Jo, Billy Ann, Doris, and John. Obit: Joseph Cornett died in San Jose Hospital [San Jose is in Santa Clara County] from head injuries received in an accident on Highway 1, 10 miles south of Santa Cruz. Mr. Cornett, a native of Arkansas, had lived in Watsonville for the last 30 years. He was a member of the local Teamsters union. Mr. Cornett leaves his wife, Violet, his mother, Mrs. Nancy Cornett of San Jose, his son John, three daughters, Mrs. Billie Brown and Mrs. Doris Connell of Watsonville and Mrs. Betty King of San Jose, two brothers, John and Gene Cornett, two sisters, Mrs. Velma Harrison and Mrs. Robin Eldridge of Oklahoma City and 11 grandchildren.
