In the 1880 census, we find that Joseph has moved to Hill County, Texas, and his wife is now reported as Mary. Records tell us this is Mary F Henry. They wre married in Johnson County, Texas (adjacent to Hill County, Texas) on 1 February 1877. Several genealogies report that Louisa Barnett Lester died in 1873, but no record has been found.
The children's reports here show their mother was born in Arkansas. Probably drawn down by the enumerator based on their stepmother's reported state of birth, without further enquiry to clarify.

Son of Henry Smith Lester (1810-1880) and Caroline (Mayfield) Lester (1824-unk).
Joseph married Louisa Jane Barnett on 13 Aug 1865 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of John B. and Minerva Owens Barnett. Joseph and Louisa Jane had three children: Alice born 1863, Alma born 1866, John A. born 1869.
Frances died after the 1870 census in Mississippi.
Joseph married Mary Florence Phillips before 1880; they were counted in Hill County, Texas 1880 census.
In 1900 they were in Wise County, Texas.
In 1910 - and until he died - they lived in Stephens County, Oklahoma.
They reared a large family.
