  Virgil Crawford Gregory of Alexander died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001. He was 81.  He was born in 1920 to Arkie and Sumpter Gregory of Benton.
  
  He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Mabelvale. A veteran of World War II, he retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 21 years of service.  He also was retired from Capital Chemical Co.
  
  Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ada Gregory of Alexander; two daughters, Marilyn Tindall and her husband, Jim, and Terrie Gregory, all of Benton; a granddaughter, Stacie Cornwell, and her husband, Monty, of Benton; a grandson, Brian Tindall of Benton; two great-grandsons, Brinson and Sameul Cornwell of Benton; a brother, Charles Gregory of Arkadelphia; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
  
  Funeral took place Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Mabelvale. Burial followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park.  Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills Funeral Home.
