  When Stephen Pinckney Pink1819 Steed was born on June 1, 1819, in Montgomery County, North Carolina, his father, Hilkiah, was 39 and his mother, Sarah, was 40. He married his first wife, Elizabeth on August 31, 1843, in Talladega, Alabama. On July 25, 1861, he married his second wife, Mary.  He died on March 28, 1899, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 79 years.
