Rolen, Bedford Head M W 46 KY KY KY Farmer
Rolen, Maggie Wife F W 33 AR NC NC [born abt 1877]
Rolen, John W Son M W 3 AR KY AR
In 1920, John is not recorded with his widowed mother's household, though his older sister Roberta, at age 14, is still at home. Shirley Rowland Mitchell reports that John died before adulthood. I have no further details. At first I suspected the Spanish flu, which was pandemic in the year was 1918. But then I failed to find the name of John or his sister Vernice in the Arkansas Death Index. which begins with the year 1914. So they may have died before 1914.
Originally I thought the record of a John W Rowland in Little Rock was him, of whom there is also one record in Faulkner County, north of Little Rock. But this must be a different Rowland family.

John W Rowland
Birth About 1907 Ethel, Arkansas County, Arkansas, USA
Death About 1914 Ethel, Arkansas County, Arkansas, USA
Birth and death dates are approximate. No records have been found with exact dates. It is thought John died in the Spanish flu epidemic. It appears he died about 1914 or so.
No burial record has been found, but it is thought that he is one of those buried in unidentified graves on the old Rowland-Jones family farm in Ethel, Arkansas, where the graves are marked only by natural stones with no names.
Ethel is a rural community with a couple of stores and a post office, near the White River, south of St Charles. Ethel was one of the early post offices in Arkansas.
