    In the 1900 census, the child in the family list who matches Samuel in 1880 is named Howard.  We can surmise from this that his name was Howard Samuel.  There is a pattern in this Christian lineage of going by the middle name, and the 1880 census name Samuel is most likely his middle name.  This matches later records reporting him as Howard S Christian.

    In 1901, Howard had some legal trouble and one record reports him as a convict in the state prison in Huntsville.  He was convicted over his plea of Not Gulity, but was later pardoned.

    In 1930, Howard's mother is no longer in his household.  She has moved in with her daughter Ruby Watson in Phoenix, and Howard and his brother William have moved to Cochise County, Arizona to raise bees.  Meanwhile Howard has married and divorced and William has married.  They are partners in the bee ranch.  I have no information on Howard's short-term wife.

    The 1900 census rpts his birth date as Mar 1880, & the July 1880 census reported him as 3 months old.  Going by the census date of 1 July 1880, he was born in March 1880.  The 1940 census reports him as 65 years old, but he could not have been born in 1875.  His grave has only the year 1880.
